Budget constraints "may preclude" the Broncos from signing free agent DeAngelo Williams, according to the Denver Post.
The Broncos are apparently making their defensive front a priority over the running game. They made an offer to Charles Johnson before he re-signed with Carolina and are expected to be in the running for free agent Cullen Jenkins. Therefore, the Post says the Broncos are interested in cheaper options at running back such as Willis McGahee and Jason Snelling. For now, signs point toward Williams heading back to the Panthers.

I know you guys are posting some of this already, Im just throwing some more news out there.

NFL Network's Michael Lombardi hears that talks between the Jets and free agent Nnamdi Asomugha are "serious and I mean serious."
As the post-lockout era enters its second 24 hours of action, the Jets are the only team linked to Asomugha. He may be willing to take less to play in New York, and players such as Mark Sanchez are willing to restructure their deals to make it work. Quickly, there appears to be an increasing likelihood that the two best corners in the league will be lining up across from each other.

As much as I would LOVE for him to go to DC, I would really like to see this. Just gives me another reason not to like the JETS. I was really pulling for them last season, but then something happened somewhere along the lines that they just got on my fucking nerves.

The Vikings and Donovan McNabb have reportedly agreed on contract terms, but the trade is on hiatus while the sides resolve a personal issue.

We forgot just how much of an absolute diva McNabb can be. He was reportedly concerned Tuesday night about "how the Vikings' side of the situation was handled." He may have been Minnesota's fallback plan to Tyler Thigpen, which can't be easy on the old ego. With the proper amount of kowtowing, the Vikings are ultimately expected to assuage McNabb.

Going to miss him. SUCK FOR LUCK - Here we come.

The Broncos better stay away from Snelling.

Cullen Jenkins is still out there, Braylon Edwards is still out there, there are some offensive linemen (I hope we end up with Davin Joseph) and we still need another linebacker and a #2 cornerback as you pointed out. I'm fine not throwing big money at a cornerback with already so much invested in the secondary.

Beat writer Jenny Vrentas has been told that the Jets aren't out of the hunt for free agent Braylon Edwards despite agreeing to terms with Santonio Holmes.
Much will depend on what happens with Nnamdi Asomugha. If the Jets break the bank there, it's obvious Edwards will be moving on. Even if they don't land Asomugha, there's still a good chance Edwards walks. And considering the Redskins struck out on Holmes, it's possible they'll throw a bundle of cash at Edwards as a consolation prize.

NFL Network's Mike Lombardi reports that the Jets will "focus" on signing free agent Nnamdi Asomugha "for the next 12 to 14 hours."
Lombardi reports that the Jets' approach "all along" was to get Santonio Holmes locked up first, and be aggressive for there. He is convinced Asomugha can fit under the Jets' cap because of the NFL's new "soft" salary limits. There are also strong indications that Asomugha would take less money to play in New York

Beat writer Kent Somers confirms the Cardinals have no interest in Vince Young.
The Cards are apparently focused on Kevin Kolb and Kyle Orton. Meanwhile, Young's best fit and path to playing time appears to be in Miami. If his head is on straight, he'd push starter Chad Henne right away.

The best kicker is now off the market, with Crosby re-signing with the Packers for five years.

MILWAUKEE (AP)—With a new deal for Mason Crosby(notes), the Green Bay Packers’ kicking game is set for training camp.

Crosby agreed to terms on a five-year contract with the Super Bowl champions, agent Mike McCartney told The Associated Press on Wednesday.

In four seasons with the Packers, Crosby has made 78.1 percent of his kicks and missed only one career extra point. While Crosby’s overall field goal percentage is low for a kicker on one of the NFL’s elite teams, kicking conditions can be tricky at Lambeau Field—and Crosby’s numbers are skewed by a relatively high number of attempts of 50 yards or more.

Crosby is 10-for-21 from 50-plus yards, and has missed only one career field goal of 29 yards or less.

Crosby made 78.6 percent of his kicks last season and hit a career-high, 56-yard field goal in the season opener against Philadelphia.

With training camp set to open Friday, the Packers’ roster is slowly taking shape. On Tuesday, the team told veteran linebacker Nick Barnett(notes) that he would not be returning; A.J. Hawk(notes) and Desmond Bishop(notes) are expected to be the team’s starting inside linebackers and Barnett is coming off a season-ending wrist injury—although Barnett said Tuesday that his wrist is fully healed and he could play right away.

Teams cannot release players until Thursday afternoon. The Packers can try to trade Barnett before then, but such a deal seems unlikely.

Packers general manager Ted Thompson typically isn’t very active in free agency, and it would be surprising to see the Packers go after any of the marquee players on the market—especially with so many good players returning from injury to a team that won the Super Bowl last season.

But the Packers must make decisions on the status of several of their own free agents, including starting left guard Daryn Colledge(notes), wide receiver James Jones(notes) and running backs Brandon Jackson(notes) and John Kuhn(notes).

Kuhn, who became something of a folk hero among Packers fans as he showed surprising ability to find yards late last season, is open to returning to Green Bay but is testing the free agent market.

Defensive end Cullen Jenkins(notes) also is a free agent but is expected to draw considerable interest from other teams. Mike Neal(notes), a second-round draft pick whose rookie season ended with a shoulder injury, is expected to take Jenkins’ place if his injury has fully healed.

The Packers also are expected to bring in several undrafted free agents— including Utah wide receiver Shaky Smithson, one of the nation’s top punt and kick returners last season—but have not formally announced any signings.

The Packers will hold their annual shareholders meeting at Lambeau Field on Thursday. Camp opens Friday, with the first practice Saturday.

Free agent RG Davin Joseph indicated on Twitter Wednesday that he's yet to receive a contract offer from the Bucs.
Bucs GM Mark Dominik strongly hinted in a Tuesday press conference that Joseph is the team's top priority, but the team appears to be slow-playing it. As far as we can tell, it's working because Joseph has not been connected to any other teams. Ideally, Dominik could lock up Joseph at a discounted rate.

Shame on you Tampa, dont you know the Skins dont have a decent OL and you are jerking yours around.

I just want to see that BIG NAME SPLASH for the Redskins. We had a list of like 6 big names, so far we got shit, and we have Stallworth to show for it.
