Raiders signed franchise player OLB Kamerion Wimbley to a five-year, $48 million contract extension.
The Raiders didn't want Wimbley's $11.3 million franchise tag applied to the 2011 salary cap. The team's top pass rusher will receive an eye-popping $29 million in guarantees, though FOX Sports' Adam Caplan suggests a decent portion of that is tied up in option and signing bonuses. Wimbley did a commendable job of turning his career around last year, but that's a lot of money committed to a player with two quality seasons in five.

Campbell always had his tight end in Chris Cooley. Considering that no one in the Raiders receiving corps has really broken out, I don't understand why they are not doing more to bring Miller back- he is an extremely important guy for them on offense.

I had hopes for the Raiders putting together a quality season this year. But considering they lost their top defensive player and arguably top offensive player (tied with McFadden, as Miller has had sustained success)

          Exactly.

Samuel may be the best zone corner in the league. Saying he's not fit for a zone D is like saying Ray Lewis lacks intensity.

Bengals reached agreement with former 49ers LB Manny Lawson on a one-year $3 million deal.

Rumors are we're about to land Donte Whitner too. I can't complain about signing 2 former 1st round picks. They will sure up a shoddy defense. Both should be starters for our D.

                    I'm gonna miss Jerious.

May your next team be able to utilize you more often, be it due to better durability on your end or better coaching on their end. I'll always remember your silky moves and sprinter speed. Your run against the Giants on MNF was literally the only exciting thing to happen during the entirety of the 2008 season. Goodbye, Jerious, and good luck.

And that's really the only compliment you can give a guy like Manny Lawson.

                        Redskins re-signed CB Phillip Buchanon.
Buchanon turns 31 in September and will compete to keep his nickel back role. He was Washington's right corner on all passing downs last season, with Carlos Rogers moving inside to cover the slot. Buchanon didn't cover well, but accounted for five turnovers and his experience in the scheme will come in handy.

Matt Ryan singled out rookie Jacquizz Rodgers as a player who has caught his eye so far in Falcons camp.
"His knowledge of protections is really good," said Ryan. "He's gonna be the third-down back for us." Despite being a fifth-round rookie with no offseason, Rodgers will be thrust into a prominent role. Michael Turner adds nothing in the passing game, and the Falcons don't appear to be interested in retaining free agent Jason Snelling

Greg Papa, the radio voice of the Raiders, predicts that free agent TE Zach Miller will re-sign Tuesday.
"Al Davis didn't just give Kamerion Wimbley $29 million to lose Zach Miller to Tom Cable," explained Papa. Miller's visit with the Seahawks ended Monday. If he was being lassoed in by Cable and coach Pete Carroll, we would have heard the news by now.
