Marc Bulger retires....does anyone care?

He's one of those QBs where you wonder what could've been. If he hadn't gone to shit (o-line problems? better TE blocking/receiving?) the Rams would've been sick on offense. Imagine Steven Jackson running free when the opposing defense actually had to respect the passing threat.

But the Rams were "sick" on offense when Bulger was in his prime. By the time Jackson hit his stride the rest of the team had declined greatly. And just as Jackson is starting to presumably slow down, the Rams are slowly getting their act together.

Bulger put together a nice career, he just fell victim to a horrendous team towards the end of his run. That o-line nearly crippled him. When I think of the Linehan era Rams, my first image is Bulger slowly peeling himself off the turf after another sack, and my second image is Bulger throwing a bullet into the ground to ward off the oncoming defense after yet another Alex Barron false start.

I can't believe a team like Miami, Washington or San Francisco didn't bring him in. Bulger can play.. it's not his fault his OL nearly murdered him over a 3 year stretch in St. Louis.

That said.. you mean to tell me you'd take Chad Henne, John Beck (LOL), or Alex Smith over him?

But I guess if Bulger doesn't want to be a vegetable when he's 45.. walking away now probably isn't a bad idea.

A good QB, but I don't care. My guess is he's not done.

I was always a fan even though one year I put major stock in him for my Fantasy Football team and he blew. Forget what year, it was a few years back though.

Bulger was a very effective QB until he took too many hits. He wasn't really gun-shy, but his body wasn't built to withstand the pounding. I think Sam Bradford is the same way. Bradford is taller, but he's just a skinny guy who will probably have a few major injuries before his NFL career is over.

YOu know, San Fran wouldnt have been a bad spot especially with them adding "B. Easy" to the team.

Marc Bulger retires and is still better then 70% of QBs in the league right now. You can thank the Rams for his shortened career. After taking so many hits w/ the Oline that they would never spend $ on to help him carve up defenses like he could. Took the passion right out of him. When he would get sacked and not one lineman would help him up. Crazy. Orlando Pace was the only guy that cared to do so. Congrats my friend on a spectacular career that could have been that much better.

This is why I always defended Bulger when things were in the tank. He got his ass kicked for three years and never said a bad word in public about the organization or the players, when he probably had every right to do so.
