Love the trueblood signing. Ill never hate on a redskins signing of an OL. Definitely a huge need.

I'm expecting a plethora of DBs and WRs in the draft with a ILB or two thrown in the mix.

Pashos as well. There was a time when he was one of the better RT's in the league with the Ravens. Also, we just signed Polumbus back to a two year deal, so we at least keep the status quo from last season. If Trueblood or Pashos can beat him out, we have a damn good reserve tackle.

I really don't think the team will go after a receiver. We have some good talent down the depth chart that's young. They might go with one, but there's not a huge need. Tight end is a bigger need, especially if Fred Davis isn't brought back.

Speaking of Davis, both he and Grossman had Rosenhaus meet with Redskins officials. The team wants both of them to return, but the cap space is a huge stumbling block.

Redskins signed CB EJ Biggers today from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Yet another Tampa Bay washout that we bring in solely because Raheem Morris is on our coaching staff.

NFL suspended Redskins OLB Rob Jackson four games.
It's unclear what for, but it's either a violation of the league's PED or substance-abuse policy. Jackson is eligible to participate in the Redskins' offseason program. It's a blow to a team already low on depth and unable to maneuver in free agency because of its crushing salary-cap penalties. Jackson was productive in place of an injured Ryan Kerrigan and Brian Orakpo last season, tallying 37 tackles, 4.5 sacks, four interceptions and two forced fumbles. Eligible to return in Week 5, he'll serve in a reserve role in 2013.
          Well that sucks

The loss of Alexander hurts even more. Considering Orakpo is coming back from a torn pectoral, I can definitely see the Redskins drafting a linebacker higher than they intended at this point.

Grossman is probably next, but we also have to clear about $4 million to sign rookies, so the next move might be after the draft. Good to have Davis back, a much needed weapon who I hope is healthy this year.

Needed with Jackson suspended for four games and Orakpo coming back from the IR.

                      Redskins draft analysis

Round 2 Pick 19 (51 overall)- David Amerson CB NC State
Amerson brings much needed size and ballhawking ability to our secondary. A deceptively fast athlete, he's had trouble with his technique and keeping up with quicker WRs on deep patterns. He's likely going to step into a starting role as a rookie and probably play a lot of zone coverage with help over the top from our upgraded safeties.

                      Grade: B

Round 3 Pick 23 (85 overall)- Jordan Reed TE Florida
A bit of a headscratcher. I understand Fred Davis is back only for one more year but Reed is not really an NFL TE. I was expecting the Redskins to draft some help at WR and I'm assuming that's why they picked up Reed. He will likely lineup in the slot on the majority of his snaps and be used to create size mismatches with smaller nickel backs and safeties.

                      Grade: C-

Round 4 Pick 22 (119 overall)- Phillip Thomas FS Fresno State
I was initially much more excited about the David Amerson pick because I figured he could play FS should his coverage skills fail to improve but then we took a true FS in Thomas in round 4. Thomas, like Amerson, is a ballhawk who is adept at coming away with turnovers. A lot of mock drafts in the past week had the Redskins taking Thomas in Round 2 so to get him in round 4 is a huge get. A likely starter from Day 1.

                      Grade: A

Round 5 Pick 21 (154 overall)- Chris Thompson RB Florida State
The standard Mike Shanahan late round RB depth pick. Happens every year. Thompson had big time speed but has suffered leg injuries in the past two seasons so it will be interesting to see if he still has 4.3 speed. A fairly reliable threat as a reciever out of the backfield, this could signal the end of Roy Helu Jr's stay in Washington.

                      Grade: C

Round 5 Pick 29 (162 overall)- Brandon Jenkins OLB Florida State
Probably my favorite pick in the whole draft for the Redskins. Jenkins will provide a huge boost to the depth at OLB and could eventually replace Orakpo if we don't resign him. Like Thompson, Jenkins suffered some injuries over the year that he will have to prove are not a long term issue.

                      Grade: B

Round 6 Pick 23 (191 overall)- Bacarri Rambo S Georgia
Another ballhawking safety with big hit potential. Has the ability to start right away at SS.

                      Grade: B

Round 7 Pick 22 (228 overall)- Jawan Jamison RB Rutgers
I have no idea what the team was doing when they selected another small RB late in the draft. I know that Shanahan typically knows what he's doing when it comes to drafting RBs but I cannot understand this selection. The team doesn't need another 5'7" 200 lb RB, especially one that doesn't have a ton of speed. Will likely compete with Thompson for a roster spot as the 3rd/4th RB

                      Grade: D

                      Overall
The obvious goal in this years draft was to add turnover potential to the defensive secondary. In David Amerson and Phillip Thomas they drafted the FBS INT leaders from the last two seasons and then they added a SS in Bacarri Rambo who had 16 INTs in 4 years as well. All three of these guys have the potential to be rookie starters for Washington and dramatically improve the secondary. Very disappointed in the team for not bringing in any offensive line talent but then again, they drafted a ton of linemen last year who have yet to make an impact.

                      Grade: C+

Terrible fucking draft. I thought shit changed in the Redskins organization but I guess not. Why the fuck did we get 2 running backs and a TE before getting a single OLine or ILB? Positions we need a lot more help in than fucking running back.

BTW, love the dual threat TE that plays QB. He's gonna see a lot of playing time filling in 2 positions of need /sarcasm

i like our picks...considering our limitations and draft order.
i also think we will be fine this coming season. its good to build around RGIII since we know what he is capable doing....

Donovan McNabb told the Washington Post he thinks Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III has "too much" going on in his life as he continues his recovery from knee surgery.

McNabb, who said he attempted to reach out to Griffin last season, told the Post that Griffin's recent actions may start to become "a circus, a sideshow."

"It's too much right now; it's just too much," McNabb told the Washington Post from his Arizona home. "I get some of things he's doing to draw attention to himself: the adidas commercials, going out and enjoying the life of a young, famous NFL quarterback. I understand RG has a lot of stuff going on.

"But if you're coming off ACL surgery, you don't need to be having a press conference at OTAs. Every week? Really? It becomes a circus, a sideshow. It takes away from the focus of what those sessions are supposed to be about: the team."

McNabb said the added attention can be "counterproductive."

"One thing Andy Reid did is he never let the injured guys become the story if they were off to the side at practice," McNabb told the Post, referring to his former coach with the Philadelphia Eagles. "He thought it took away from the guys who were grinding and practicing every day.

"So when I look up on TV and see him up there talking all the time about how great he's doing -- or doing jumping jacks or someone else talking about his supernatural healing powers -- I wonder to myself: Is this about selling tickets to the fans or what?

"I don't blame him. They're letting him do it. But at some point, it can be counterproductive. You can set yourself up for more criticism later."

                            http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/93...-much-going-on
I guess McNabb forgot the circus he had the off-season that we acquired him :maynard:

McNabb is speaking the truth though. I get it that Washington media wants to get ratings, but RG3 really doesn't need to say much right now. However, I do think RG3 is the type of guy that can handle all of it. I get sort of annoyed from hearing about where he is in his recovery or whether he will play in the season opener.

Any media is like this with any big talent, and he's so far been the type of player who can transcend the discussion like few others. Plus, when has the Washington media had a player like this on the Redskins to report on? I know it gets repetitive, and it is to me too, but I definitely understand it.
