Cassel is going to get spanked next year.

and then everyone will start to realize that its not as much the QB as it is the system in NE.

Pats were VERY VERY smart by how they handled Cassel, and got more then they really deserved out of him, as I'm sure he wont do shit after he leaves NE.

lets hope I'm wrong though, I wouldn't wish something bad on anyone.

Yeah they definitely have to draft defense. I dont think they need a WR this year in the draft as they still have Tony Gonzalez and Dwayne Bowe. I am kinda thinking that the chiefs are gonna have to keep Larry Johnson now because I dont think they could draft a RB in the third round and have a decent running game.

Just because he has talent around him and was in a great system doesn't means he is bad. Their is plenty of talent in KC and Todd Haley brings a great system along with him too. The pats didn't babysit him in their offense. They played him at the end of the year the same as they did Brady in 2007. In the final 7 games of the regular season he showed how good he is and will continue to be.

Their defense sucks and that is why the Raiders will beat out the Chiefs in 2009. Plus the will be able to handle their offense enough.

          Okay...

when he goes to Kansas City, and doesn't have the best O-Line in the league, despite the fact that he supposedly "doesn't use" his O-lineman. we'll see how he does.

the only advantage this guy has, is that he'll be playing shit teams such as Denver and Oakland.

NE Offense > KC Offense, thats easy. people are hopping on the bandwaggon, when they forget that this guy basically played in the offense that completely destroyed every team in its path two years ago. its basically the same explosive offense that probably would have been #1 if Brady would have been playing.

of course the guy is going to look good, its the best offense in the NFL, Rex Grossman could have put up the same numbers Cassel did last year if he'd been playing in NE. The system has been good to Cassel. and the patriots are getting a major steal with Cassel.

I hope the best for him, but when he gets to Kansas City, I know he's going to have a very very average year if not below average.

and it doesn't mean he's bad...

there are plenty of good QB's who play on bad teams that can't get anything done.

its just he wont have the same type of year people saw last year with NE, and more then likely he'll be a disappointment.

I think their offense will be good. Went from close to last when Thigpen took over to 24 at the end of the year. They got LJ and a couple other backs (assuming LJ doesn't leave). Then he has Bowe and Gonzalez and possibly Crabtree if they decide to pick him 3rd overall. He is mobile and can evade tacklers and scramble and with the Chiefs line he'll have to do that a little bit more. He will play in a great offensive system and i think Haley will adjust the offense to his needs and to his talents. He is very accurate, after playing in New England he reads coverages well. He can't throw the ball really far but that looks like his only downfall. Haley was able to turn Fitz from good to great and with a receiver very similar, Bowe, I expect Bowe to turn into a much better receiver too.

There defense looks like the only problem to me. Hali looks like a bust, Dorsey doesn't look like he'll fit in well in a 3-4 defense, They don't got much good young linebackers except Derrick Johnson (of course Curry is a favorite to be picked 3rd overall too) Their secondary is bad. Surtain has been released and Flowers played one good game which was against Favre.

I think their offense will be top 10 anyways and he'll look even better if the AFC West teams don't start playing defense. Their defense i think will be in the bottom 20 of the league but their offense i think has potential to be great.

Matt Cassel is going to give Bernard Pollard a big high five when he gets there.

idk probably went away once the chiefs started to lose. That was probably the most publicity the chiefs got all year. I wonder how many times on Sportscenter they are going to mention how ironic it is that Cassel is going to play the team that injured Brady and gave him the chance to play.

In a 3-4 Curry and Johnson would play in the middle and Vrabel would play outside then they would have to find someone else opposite of Vrabel.

All any of us Chiefs fans can do is believe Pioli knows what he is doing and trust in that until he doesnt earn that trust any more.

With the first round pick, I hope we pick up Aaron Curry. I would love to have a linebacking core with Curry on one side and Derrick Johnson on the other in a 3-4. Pick up another vet to man the middle and we have the makings of a solid defensive linebacking core.
What defense did he chiefs run last year 3-4 or 4-3?

I would suspect that Vrabel will be playing in the same role as in NE, which is basically being a fourth linemen and rushing almost every play from the outside.

I was never that high on Cassel throughout the year. He was a guy who had no chemistry with his WR's and couldn't throw a deep ball over 15 yards. By the end of the year, I appreciated what he did as a system QB. He throws a VERY good 5-10 yard ball.

Life was easy for him in New England with that oline and Moss/Welker. I'm curious to see how he "scrambles" when KC's shitty Oline breaks down.

But then again, Thigpen had some success scrambling so who knows.

Good deal overall for KC. No way is he worth a 1st, but I also don't see him as a pile of shit either. KC wasn't going to get a Sanchez in round 2, and I certainly wouldn't want to blow my first on the kid. I'd rather have Cassel, anyway. As for Cassel being a ''system'' quarterback - You guys act as if he'll have to learn a whole new system or some shit, he won't have to do that in KC.

                                Smart move, Chiefs.
