If there was a playoff this year, the last 2 teams standing would probably be LSU & Alabama...so it would be the exact same scenario we have now.
Maybe? Maybe not. Plus if there was a playoff and Alabama had one loss to LSU then went through a playoff to beat LSU would anyone have an issue with it? I know I wouldn't.

No one thinks the Giants are any less of Super Bowl Champs because they split with the Pats back in 2007

AP polls wouldnt be obligated to crown the playoff winner...they can choose any of the playoff teams they like most.
      How do you know this?

Secondly, it's not like we haven't seen wild cards or teams with more losses win tournaments or playoffs before. In every other sport, including the FCS division it's acceptable. Thinking it owuld blow people's minds or be unacceptable at the FBS level is absurd and runs counter to the way every other sport is run.

What would be different than the situation we have now?

Both Alabama and LSU would have gone through the playoffs, so thats even...and LSU had the much stronger regular season.

If AP polls were in the NFL im sure many woulda made a case for New England winning it.

Because in pro sports everyone accepts the concept that the winner advances.

This is obviously not the case for college football, as we are gonna have a "title game" which some say doesnt matter because LSU should already have a split clinched.

Because rather than just choosing two teams and saying no other teams haev a shot................in a playoff LSU and Alabama would haev played their way in.

How is that not the obvious answer?

Because you dont seem to understand we are only comparing LSU and Alabama. Yes i know both teams would have played their way in, but LSU would still be "superior" to Alabama as they are now, even if they lose.

If the AP polls work the same with a playoff as it does now, this would be a major problem.

                      Ok. There's the massive difference.

                      STFU about it already.

If each get through a playoff there wouldn't be an uproar like we have no over a split. it doesn't happen in any other sport we have that holds a playoff of any kind.

                      Come on.

                      Just quit.

                      This is getting stupid.

I'd bet heavy money it wouldn't be. At all.

Ill give you the Oregon scenario again so you can understand it better.

Say this year we had a playoff, and Oregon beat LSU in the title game. Oregon would still have more losses, and lesser SOS, and the H2H series is split.

Do you not see how people could still vote for LSU in that scenario, just like people would vote for LSU regardless now?

Ridiculous comparison, college football is the only sport decided by polls.

And even when we do have a title game (LSU vs Bama part 2), people still wanna decide it with polls.

                          You're still being stupid.

And teh playoff would help to eliminate that.

                          That's the point.

Because the polls alone decided the title game. That's kind of the problem. So of course people want to "decide it with polls". Polls were deciding it to begin with.
