in reference to thread title..Alabama doesnt deserve to be in the game in the first place..the game is pointless and subjectively useless as it is. The only reason its happening is because ESPN and the NCAA deemed it to be so. Alabama deserves nothing
Could LSU lose to Alabama in the National Championship and still be #1?

The AP poll isn't some odd far away enitity.
It's comprised of people. If we can all pretty much agree people wouldn't have an issue with a rematch winner being the NC as a result of a playoff then the voting results for the AP Poll become both meaningless and moot...and not a "major issue".
And frankly if the AP Poll somehow did ever vote a NC that wasn't a playoff winner..no one would take it seriously...except for Alabama.Comment
-
Then why are we arguing? My only point was that it could happen...and is a major issue because of the possibility of it happening.
Because the AP Poll is like the People's Choice Awards if you have a playoff? Thats kind of like saying "this will work 99 out of 100 times, but since it might not work we shouldn't do it".
They should also do away with the NCAA Basketball tournament, too, because its conceivable that the AP could still vote Butler as the national champion after they score 40 points in the title game?Comment
-
Because you're a moron.
It's not a "major issue" because there's no realistic chance of it happening because of the way people think about playoffs and rematches.....AND in the .0000000000000000000000000000000001% chance it would happen the AP Poll would be laughed at and not taken seriously.
Is ANY of this sinking in yet?Comment

Many people say LSU should be champs even if they lose, correct? OK...
If there was a playoff, LSU & Alabama would have both beaten a playoff team...thats the only difference from today...
But the criteria for having LSU above Alabama would still be the same...LSU would still have beaten much more good opponents than Alabama...therefore a realistic chance of people still saying LSU is better.
Nope, not sinking in yet. You?Comment

THERE WAS NO PLAYOFF THIS YEAR TO DETERMINE THIS GAME. Comparing this year(where there is no playoff) to a situation where this is a playoff that each teams plays through to reach the championship makes no sense and is a non starter.
I stopped reading after your first sentence as a result.Comment

No. It's because you're an idiot.
As for LSU could say they ebat more quality opponnets...same thing could could possibly be said for any playoff loser in history. Non issue in other playoffs.
Non issue here.

Well thats pretty stupid...thats why we are arguing, because you refuse to hear me out.

I understand where you guys are coming from...you guys are of the thought that Alabama is currently undeserving...and if they beat a playoff team, then they would be deserving...
But my point is that LSU could still be considered more deserving even if they lose...so therefore people could still vote LSU.Comment

But you can still say the same thing in college basketball, too. If Butler were to have beaten Duke in the Finals, some people could still claim that Duke deserves to be the national champion because 1) Duke beat many more quality opponents, and 2) the USA allows for freedom of speech, and we cannot force someone NOT to say something. But, as Nice Guy Eddie once said, "that doesn't necessarily make it fuckin' so."Comment
