The NIU vs Ark State game is more important than this game..

The AP Poll has meaning only if people find it meaningful. If college football goes to a playoff system, nobody can stop the AP from still releasing their poll. But, as you already pointed out, the AP doesn't do a final basketball poll because they have a tournament to decide a champion. Even the AP realizes that their poll would be worthless at that point.

You act as if its the AP that has total control over college football. Even if college football goes to a playoff system, the AP can thwart that scheme by RELEASING A POLL AFTER THE PLAYOFF! GASP!!!

EDIT: not trying to be a smartass troll, I honestly don't understand your point.

No. It's pretty well backed up with the way people view and feel about playoff results..regardless if the final game is a rematch or not.

Ive already stated my point many times so i dont think its worth repeating.

At what point would the AP poll be worthless? With a 4 team playoff? 8 team playoff?

What we have now can be considered a playoff, it just contains only 2 teams.

If there was a 4 team playoff, the way those 4 teams are selected might be exactly the same!

              4 team playoff this year.

              LSU vs Stanford

              Bama vs Okie St

              LSU and Bama win.

              Meet for the title.

              Bama wins.

You mean to tell me you honestly believe the AP Poll would vote LSU over Alabama for the NC?

If not..it's not a "major issue" it's an unfounded and stupid fear.

And what you are saying isn't an opinion?

Many people (one's who weren't SEC coaches, fans, or SEC fanboys) thought Oklahoma State should be number 2. Here is where the subjective part comes into play and why there will likely be a split in the AP poll if Bama does win.

Guess what will eliminate subjectivity...... a playoff. Something that doesn't rely on formulas that nobody knows or coaches that have an obvious bias towards one team. A playoff is something that EVERYONE (ok, maybe 98%) agrees on, or have you been missing the talk for the past few years?

I believe its a possibility...the people who currently have LSU>Bama would have no reason to change their minds, if each team wins a playoff game.

A playoff would still be subjective!

Unless you go with FT's plan of all conf champs, teams will have to be selected with subjectivity.

                      It wasn't worth stating originally.

Then it damn sure wasnt worth making a poll like you did.

                          The results wouldn't be.

What we basically have now is people playing a subjective playoff out int her mind all season to pick two teams. I'd rather have a subjective 4-8 teams chosen and let the games actually occur then what it is now.

Yeah me too. Zero relevance to this 3 page argument.
