First it was the AP poll people who controlled college football.

Then I learned that it was actually the stooges that sit on the Fiesta Bowl Board of Directors who have been the people ranking the teams all along.

I'm afraid of what I'll learn next in this thread...that mascots or Lee Corso (pun) actually run college football.

What is your point in saying that the BCS formula would be used to rank teams? Does that diminish the playoff tournament system?

      Completely irrelevant to my point.

      Missing my point.

BCS would still crown the champion, not the NCAA = same problem we have today, BCS champ and AP champ.

        You don't know that.

That's liek saying the Selection Committee "crowns the NCAA BB champion".

If the BCS rankings or some sort of rankings determine the teams for a playoff that doesn't mean the rankings are crowning the champion.

I dont know alot about CBB but isnt the selection committee under the umbrella of the NCAA?

Im assuming the BCS would crown the champion, since the article says it would be an expansion of the current BCS. This is not the NCAA taking charge.

As if every other playoff including the FCS..so why would a FBS playoff end up being any different?

The BCS crowning the champion =/= to using the BCS rankings..or some rankigns to determine the teams that get in.

Read the article, this proposal is an expansion of the current BCS. Its still the BCS just with an extra round.

                No it's not.

Currently the BCS has "no rounds". it's a game with meaningless bowls around it.

Second, I read the article. The author makes a presumption of that. That's not a fact. He doesn't even know what system would be used to pick the teams.

                Did YOU read the article?

It's a shame, but a playoff system will NEVER happen in College Football.

There is too much money being made by both the BCS, bowl games, and schools for any change to occur. If there is any playoff system enacted, then it would be a four team playoff, changing between the four major BCS bowls each season, with a championship game at the end (i.e. Two teams play in Fiesta Bowl, two teams play in Orange Bowl, winners play in Championship. Rose and Sugar bowls still occur with top 10 teams, however they will not make it to the championship. The next season, the bowls switch). All of the other bowls still will occur as they do now. There is just too much money at stake to hold a full blown playoff system. Fans are not going to buy tickets to 3 different games to see their team on the path to the championship. It's too expensive in football. The prices would have to drop, but that will never happen.

Also its funny that its so important what rankings are used to determine the top 4 teams...you guys make it seem like if its the official NCAA doing it then its ok...but if its the BCS then its not as important, and the AP title is still relevant.

So an actual round? Since there are no rounds now...

Thats exactly what you been saying for 5 pages.

I say the LSU/Bama title game should be treated like a playoff game (aka winner is champ, fuck AP poll).

                          You clearly disagree with that.

You said it shouldnt be treated like a 'winner takes all' game because the teams were selected by the BCS. To you its just the BCS championship game while the AP championship is completely different.

Im saying the BCS champion should be the champion, period. You are in favor of having a split championship.

                            1 vs 2 is a round.

So this playoff format contains only 1 round??

                                1 vs 4, 2 vs 3
                                winner vs winner
