While your coaches were teaching you how to KILL AND MURDER the opponents, mine were teaching me about respect and sportsmanship.

Was Gregg Williams your HS coach?
Butch Cattolico was my HS football coach.

Are you serious here? Do you not understand that football is a violent, violent game?

If you have a serious problem with it then you shouldn't be watching it if it offends you so badly. If you are so sensitive to big hits and people bodies getting torn apart then you should stick to baseball.

The attitude that I played with went both ways. In junior college, against CCSF (the number 1 JC in the country at the time), we played a group of very excitable coloreds that did not have very nice things to say to us or do to us. They literally tore us apart, injuring several of us, and then telling us that they were going to do home invasions on us later that night after the game.

This is how it went every game. That's the sport man. It has nothing to do with respect or sportsmanship. After the game you shake hands, you don't mean to injure anyone, but you do want to make sure the opponent fears you and does not ever want to play you again.

In short, if you condone this, you're a moron.
I wouldn't want any of the Packer coaches to pay players to hit hard. But if the players put together a pool, who cares. As long as the hits are clean, who cares. Any dirty hits should be handled by the officials and the league.

As far as another coaching staff paying players for good, clean, hard hits, I don't really care, as long as the hits are good and clean. If it breaks rules, then the NFL should hand out fines, suspensions, etc. I agree, if it's against the rules, the NFL should act.

But who cares what legal incentives are used to encourage good, clean, hard hits.

I honestly think some of you would shit your pants and start crying if you heard some of the shit that is said on an NFL football field.

These guys are out to hurt one another. This is nothing new. Just because a "bounty" has been put up doesn't change anything, these guys are fucking animals and they got to this level because of that.

The New Orleans Saints face heavy punishment for implementing an illegal "bounty" system whereby players were offered cash incentives for injuring opponents, the NFL announced Friday.

I don't even know why i'm engaging you. You have stated, in this thread, that you have no issue with a coach putting mafia style hits on opposing players.

Now you have spent the last few posts doing all sorts of weird ultra hetero chest pounding, talking about KILLING AND MURDER and blasting girls and how manly you are because you played football when you were 18.

You are clearly mental, and if you don't believe me, consider that the two people who agree with you in this thread are steeljake, and bucky.

Yes, because i'm sure when Williams and Vilma slapped the $10 grand on the table and said "THIS IS FOR ANYONE WHO CAN INJURE FAVRE...", they finished that sentence with "...with a good, solid, clean hit. Remember, within the rules, guys!"

                  Pfft, Gibbs is a pussy.

He should have a chat with Butch Cattolico about KILLING AND MURDER.

LOL you are totally right. I was totally mental on the football field. But god damn was it fun and if I was still playing today I'd be playing the exact same way.

There's a difference between injuring someone and hurting someone. Every time I hit somebody I tried to hurt them. I wanted them to feel pain.

I was a Bob Sanders type of player. Small but overly aggressive and I got hurt a lot because of how reckless I was. I just believe that's the way the game should be played and you don't go easy on anybody just because they are a QB. I think that's asinine to be honest.

That article was from today.........now I lost some respect for Gibbs. He was either complacent and didn't care or he was like Steve Spurrier and got lost in running the offense. Though this could be why Dan Snyder interviewed Williams four times and he never got the job.

Then the league should make those hits illegal. Shouldn't be such a thing as a cheap "legal" hit. Change the rules. I don't want to see players careers shortened or players injured. But football players should be allowed to hit as hard as the can while making legal hits.

I just don't have a problem with incentives for clean/legal hits. I wouldn't want to see injury incentives in contracts. I don't mind incentives between team mates.

Really, the NFL should do what they can to protect the players health through equipment and rules for the game itself.

Whether they said "within the rules" or not, the officials and the NFL should be the ones doling out any penalties for hits that are not "within the rules". And any cheap hits that are somehow "within the rules" should have the rules changed. Change the rules to make this kind of thing insignificant.

So do you have an issue with putting out mafia style injury hits on players, or not?

I mean, ffs, forget the god damn rule book and answer that question. What is with you? Between this and the Braun thread, I question your ability to formulate any sort of critical thought or use of common sense.

Players get incentives already to play hard...it's called their salary. Getting (apparently) team supported bonuses for hard hits also has salary cap ramifications, which the league always loves.
