Never mind the fact that the cash exchange is against the NFL rules to begin with, besides being morally and ethically corrupt.

    Whats wrong with you?
I really love the irony of a former bookie talking about other people being morally and ethically corrupt.

Seriously, you're a fucking joke man.

The NFL is going to be incredibly harsh on this, and rightfully so. Because its deplorable. Sad that people are downplaying it, but the tough guy fan culture of the NFL fans is strong.
-Clean hits don't negate the bounty, but you're still just punishing them on the idea of the bounty/the lying to cover it up. It's impossible to argue intent to begin with, not to mention months/years after the fact.

-The "pussification" is the most over-used bullshit I've ever heard. Concussions are serious, and when you start reading more and more stories about guys going guano crazy after retirement and not remembering what they ate for breakfast, killing themselves, possibly others down the line. It's serious, and you have to make rules to try and prevent the sheer number of concussions. Now things like illegal contact being called every other pass play and not being able to graze a QB's knee on a follow through is BS, but it's incompetence at the top over these things. It's got nothing to do with cleaning up the game from a health stand-point and everything to do with trying to increase offensive numbers and keep star offensive players in the game and producing.

-I can't see them coming down harder for this than they did the Pats for Spygate. Bottom line is that one was lying (which is wrong), paying players to play borderline dirty (which is wrong), and not reporting payments to the NFL (which is wrong). But none of that brings the integrity of the game into question, like Spygate did. There's nothing more important to the NFL than presenting to the fans that the game is an even playing field. I swear, if we ever see the day that a starting QB is alleged to have bet on his games Pete Rose style, I wouldn't be surprised to see Roger slit that man's throat in the background of Rich Eisen's 40. There's some things the NFL absolutely cannot stand for, and compromising the integrity of the game is one of them. Bounties, probably aren't. The Saints are going to get a big hit, but not the type of craziness you're asking for with Payton/Williams fired, players suspended, and all that good stuff. Big fine, loss of a 1st or 2nd, a token firing on the Saints end (whomever they deem least valuable), and maybe Payton gets a game or two.

Does the fact that teams have engaged in bounties change the fact that the league can't have this stuff happening? I really don't get what all of the defending is about. The league can't have this sort of thing happening. All of the players mentioning that "football is a contact sport" will be trying to sue the league for negligence.

I don't get where you get "defending" from. Seems this thread disagrees on the effectiveness of Bounty's and how to effectively eliminate them from the game. Some are far to emotional about it and not nearly practical enough.

I often forget about bucky's inability to comprehend basic points and logic, so forgive me for contributing to this abomonation.

Tailback is just an unstable weirdo who keeps bringing up hard hitting as if it has a single thing to do with the issue of bounties.

Again, emotionally overboard and w/o reason. Stop PMSing. You really are way to emotional and sensitive. Come on over to the practical side. Just stop being such a teenage girl on her period.

The "practical side" is you, potentially the worst poster on the site, and Tailback, who in this thread has talked about footba being about MURDER AND KILL, and keeps rambling like an insane person about hard hits when it has nothing to do with the topic.

No thanks, im good over here with the people who get it and are not borderline insane.

Fines and suspensions for illegal hits is insane? Fining and suspending illegal hits = worst poster. That's just the over emotional PMSing kind of thing I expect from you.

Make bounty's functionally ineffective. That's being insane? Stop PMSing.

                  Fine teams for Bounty's
Fine and Suspend coaches for Bounty's
Significantly fine and suspend players for illegal hits
Any dirty hits that are legal, change the rules. Make them illegal. Effectively, make bounty's ineffective.

And you call that insane or lacking reason. You're obviously not stupid. I just think you're way too emotional, incredibly unreasonable, and very judgmental. Tale a breath, take whatever PMS medication you need and try and explain why the above is insane or invalid. Because that's been my stance.

God you are such a girl.

Hey guys, we should fine guys for dirty hits!

Great analysis. Why hasnt anybody thought of that?

No surprise, you didn't even come close to answering the question. What's so invalid about the stance? Answer what's wrong with what I had in bold? Stop PMSing.

I'm not talking about how to effectively eliminate bounties from the NFL, as that is a different thread. I'm speaking about them in general and regardless of the history of them the league can't have coaches and players funding them for obvious reasons.

I agree that the game shouldn't have them. For both PR reasons and ethical reasons. I just recognize that they do exist, have existed for a long time, and question their effectiveness. And I'm not caught up on the emotional side, I'm more about "how do we eliminate them".

In all seriousness, I would not be totally opposed to throwing Williams out of the league. It would send a strong messege that this stuff wont be tolerated. I think he's facing a long suspension for sure.

its the same as a coach telling his team that the team that hits hardest wins games. The guys that buy into the bounties would buy into that phrase, the only difference being money.

he shouldnt be kicked out of the league for this. Its a much smaller infraction then Patriot-gate

I vote for a murderdeathkill whenever possible.

And if you don't agree with me, well, I'll put a bounty on you.
