im pretty sure they need DB too. i played with them on nfl head coach and that group didnt seem to strong. they definitely wont address that with the first pick though.

for the lions draft, i think it might actually be a good idea to trade down a few picks. they are most likely gonna go QB or OL. personally, i think the quarterbacks coming out this year arent very good at all. theres a lot of depth in OL however. if they trade down, they could get some more picks and maybe even a solid player. you trade so you have a pick somewhere between 8-15 so you can get one of the great OL prospects coming out. i think andre smith will drop to them there and i believe he will be very good in the NFL. then with the draft picks you got in return from the trade, you can address a lot of the other needs. dont forget they have pick #20 so they could pick up sanchez if he slips that far or maybe even josh freeman but i doubt it. if i were them i would wait till next year to draft a QB cuz you could get sam bradford or maybe even colt mccoy.

At cornerback they acquired Anthony Henry and Philip Buchanon. I don't think they'll go cornerback early. Maybe one on the second day. So i don't see that as a big need.

I think with Culpepper playing in his old offense he will be kept as the starter for 1-2 more seasons. I think they might go LT but they drafted Gosder Cherilus last year and Jim Schwartz has been going after defense a lot recently in trades and free agency. That has given me a feeling that they will go defense with the #1 pick. They could go Curry and create a top 5 linebacking core. I think they really need help on defensive line though so Orakpo and Raji could also end up as possibilities. With their #1, 20, and 33 picks i think they go DE, DT, and OT with those picks. That not in any specific order btw.

Also last year the Lions drafted Jordan Dizon in the 2nd round so i think he could become the starting MLB. With Gunther Cunningham as DC, Jim Schwartz as head coach and as he would be playing alongside Peterson and Sims i think that would give him a great chance to succeed.

I agree 100%, the Lions really need go after either Smith or Curry, like Buzzman and I have said, Peterson, Sims and Curry would be sick to watch, and would guarantee a lot of tackles and big plays that we haven't had in years past.

I'd like to see Smith as the #1 pick, just so there'd be a little stability at his position, but there definitely needs to be more work done on the O-Line, as well as the D-Line.

Well the Lions have signed some defensive guys in FA so far, and i think they'll sign more after the draft.

Phillip Buchanon - CB - 2 year deal
Eric King - CB - 2 year deal
Grady Jackson - DT - 3 year deal

        And they've traded for
Anthony Henry - CB - Dallas
Julian Peterson - LB - Seattle

They've also signed other players, but i like what they've done so far in the offseason.

        1. OL
        2. QB
        3. DL
        4. DB
I'd say that should be their priority list right now.

EDIT: I agree with Aso's post as well.

I think Peterson is a VERY good pick up for the Lions. He is a pretty dang good OLB and should be good alongside Sims.

I'm glad to see Peterson out of Seattle. Hated seeing him go up against the 49ers. This also means less likely chance of Crabtree out of Seattle.

Detroit really has some of you guys going around in circles. I'm impressed.

Upgraded defense, upgraded jerseys, and a new face of the organization in Matt Stafford. I do love how the Lions are playing mind games, though - Maybe they can impress us on the field, as well.

NEVER say Jordan Dizon can be the starting MLB, theres a reason he never played last year. He was weak as fuck and was actually too stupid to know even the basic playbook.

They need to Go Curry #1 overall, then OT #20, then #33 go Saftey or D-line

Awesome trade by Martin Mayhew. Redding has underperformed ever since Shaun Rogers left. Julian Peterson is an excellent linebacker.

Unfortunately this means we're probably drafting Stafford or Smith/Monroe and we'll pick up another linebacker later on.

I think Seattle schooled Detroit.. not only did we get Redding from them for a guy that was going to be cut by the end of the weekend.. we got a draft pick too..

I like JP a lot, but dude was slowing down greatly over the past couple of years and simply was not worth the crazy contract we gave him.

The only way this means it's less likely Crabtree becomes a Seahawk is if Curry somehow drops to 4..

Otherwise, I don't think it affects it much at all. We were going to cut Peterson after he turned down a pay cut because his cap number was bigger than Leroy Hills even with the franchise tag on it. That's insane.

I still think the Seahawks wish list is Jason Smith, Aaron Curry and Michael Crabtree.. and that we will take the one left to us at #4

You cant say you schooled DET cause Seattle was going to cut him. He wouldnt have come to DET if he was a FA, but by Detroit trading him, they ensure they get him. Plus we get rid of Redding who was complete joke after he got paid.

Looking at the divison they are in yes i do think they have a chance. I like a lot of the moves Schwartz has made from his coaches to the personnel he has brung in. We'll have to pay close attention to the Lions in 2009. I think they will range somewhere between 6-8 wins though. So i don't think they will do what the Fins did.
