    49ers sign TE Cameron Morrah

The 49ers officially announced the Cameron Morrah signing. A few details on the move.

This is delayed from last night, but better late than never. Amidst the hubbub of the 2013 NFL schedule release, the 49ers announced the signing of tight end Cameron Morrah. There were rumors about the signing two nights ago, but now it is official. Per the NFLPA salary database, Morrah signed a one-year deal worth $630,000. That represents the league minimum for a veteran with three years of service time.

Morrah (6-3, 251) was originally a seventh round pick (248th overall) by the Seattle Seahawks in the 2009 NFL Draft. Over the course of his career, Morrah has played in 27 games (7 starts) and tallied 16 receptions for 194 yards. Morrah played college ball at Cal, finishing his career with 41 catches for 484 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Morrah would seem likely to battle Garrett Celek for that third tight end role. Morrah has experience in the Joker role at which Delanie Walker excelled. Next week's draft will give us a better idea of how exactly the 49ers view their tight end situation. Speaking of which, make sure and check out Trevor's re-ranking of tight ends earlier this week.

Cameron was on my baseball team (Braves) in 6th grade.
