Moving the 3-point line further back would be a better comparison.

Let's face it, I tend to be ahead of the curve on most things NFL, bump this in two years when the league makes some sort of change.
I have to side with Glenbino on this one. Every change the NFL makes has been to put more points on the board and reduce the amount of contact. Making FGs harder would only add more 4th down plays and more punts which both mean more contact. I can see them getting rid of kick-offs before cracking down on FGs.

No idea why they would even entertain the idea. They are already on the verge of completely legislating defense out of the game, why would they care if the kickers are tacking on more points. More points = more casual fans (and fantasy football players) which = more $$$. The only way they stop their assault on defense and reverse the offense-friendly trend they've been on forever is if it starts hurting the bottom line. How hard a FG is won't do it. If the numbers of parents not willing to let their kids play football due to the risk of injury (chiefly concussions) increases to the point where the talent pool starts to shrivel up, that will hurt the bottom line. As you can see the league is all over that issue. Their next step might be restricting the hitting zone on a player's body even further to get those knee injuries out of the game that result from defenders going high to avoid head shots. I wouldn't be surprised if they make it so you can only hit a guy from the shoulders down to the thighs. Wait and see what happens to scoring then. If they do anything with kickers it will be getting rid of both kick-offs and PATs.

BTW, not sure who said it, but there were PATs missed last year (6 of them to be exact, 4 so far this year). Still, league success rate has been over 99% for quite a while. Then again, even that's been 97% or better for more than 50 years so who knows if they are seriously considering anything on that front.

kickers always lead or are near the top in scoring anyway. They are doing it more now because there is more scoring in general. Teams that don't score TDs are still getting on the other side of the 50 more often which leads to more field goals anyway.

That has nothing to do with the rate at which the kicks are being made. Which is the crux of Warner's argument.

If the NFL gradually moved the goalpost at meticulous intervals, I wonder how long it'd take anyone to notice.

No.. It doesn't. Anyone with the intellect of an eighth grader could understand this.

You're about two or three grades ahead of rams with that assessment.

he is saying kickers score too much and its too easy. I'm saying no matter what you change, that will always be the case. Have a nice day...go suck a candy cane

Nobody is arguing about how many points kickers score via extra points. Have a nice day...I hope your wife gets breast cancer

So apparently making it more difficult to make FGs won't change the fact that it's too easy to make FGs :mindblown2:

3 pointers in the red zone still add up/happen at frequent rate and I said suck on a candy cane...that's nice compared to your nasty rudeness

Again. Nobody is arguing about the chip shot FGs. This thread was made because of increased accuracy on what were once difficult and challenging kicks. I hope your parents are struck by a drunk driver.

Still has nothing to do with W2B's "kickers are getting too good" argument. Teams are attempting more long FGs now than before, and your awful theory does nothing to explain the major increase in success rate on FGs 45+ that we've seen over the past 20 years.
