Or Martin could have just told them to shut up. Ignored them. Not participated in any of it until the other guys gave up since they would stop getting a reaction from him.

From my understanding they never really did get a reaction out of him. He tried his best to laugh it off which is something I used to do except doing that does not stop people from doing what they're doing. People always say if they don't get a reaction out of you they'll stop - bullshit. When I was younger I listened to that advice and ridicule never stopped. Then I changed my personal philosophy and if someone gave me shit I'd physically confront them, talk shit 10x harder to their face, etc. Most "bullies" can dish it out but can't even remotely take it and thats when the bullying stops.

Martin didn't have enough confidence in himself to do that but it doesn't really seem like he did a whole lot to actually try to fix his situation. He has that constant doom and gloom attitude.

I'm not even going to discuss this in length because it's ran its course. My opinions after reading some of it are the same as when I initially heard the report. Martin is a weak and easy target with mental and self esteem issues. Incognito, and others, took it too far and preyed on the weak minded. There is no excuse for this.

I don't care if it's in football or anywhere else in the world. I don't care if it happens in prison, it's simply not ok for someone to intentionally try to mentally "break" someone. Not only that, but to reward and encourage that type of behavior on your own teammate? Enough said.

I really don't understand excusing this type of behavior because these guys are "football players." They are grown men. They should know better. Martin could and should have done more, but his lack of action doesn't excuse Incognito's behavior.
