McDonagh is a solid prospect. HF has him rated the #1 prospect for the Habs. Offensive D-Man. Plays in college right now.

      ---

-Devils traded for Ben Walter and sent Tony Romano to NYI.

-Supposedly Jack Johnson will be moved soon.

-Saku Koivu supposedly going to Anaheim for a little south of 5M.

Huge deal for New York. Credit to Sather for finding a GM who's dumber than him. A dependable winger with some goal scoring pedigree and a massive salary dump in return. Excellent deal.

Of course I still have the utmost belief in Sather's ability to fuck up our team. It will not at all be surprising if he manages to overpay for someone else now. He'll probably try to sign Zherdev, even though Zherdev is the exact opposite of a Tortorella type player. He'll end up tearing apart the league's best penalty kill by letting both Sjostrom and Betts walk. Shit he'll probably end up trading away far too much talent if he manages to acquire Heatley.

Heatley is going to Edmonton for Penner/Cogliano/Smid

          Done deal.

          Wow.

Apparently the Oilers/Canucks about to make trades of their own shortly

As a Habs fan, the Gomez deal just baffles me.
If he had a reasonable contract, fine, but the guy is a $7M cap hit for the next five years.
            That's fine for a #1 line centre who's elite. Gomez ain't that.

Habs could afford to give up McDonagh because they have a lot of organizational depth, but quite frankly, given the contract they took off Sather's hands ... McDonagh is all the Rangers should have gotten.

Not like he deserves 6 mil and putting the Wings 2 mil over the cap when we won a cup without him a little over a year ago. He's a great player, but to ask for 6 mil/year just isn't going to cut it.

Heatley nixed this trade. Everyone stays put.

It's simple really. You have NOTHING. Gomez is something, although at a ridiculous cost, still, you have nothing.

Don't knock my Habs, you fag.

They're not an expansion team and deserve some respect.

... but not for this trade.

                    Knock your habs?

                    I'm stating a fact.

You have 5 Forwards (4 4th liners and a top 6) + Gomez under contract. You have nothing but cap space.

Heatley is a bum. How many enemies is he trying to make here? Request a trade but won't waive his NTC. I don't even like the deal but that's not the point. Given the situation I know the Sens won't get his real worth. Plus if the deal doesn't go through, What does this do to Penner, Cogliano and Smid.

Sather is the man, kinda. lol

After this year's performance in the playoffs, the only team that should give him his 6M+/yr is a team that is on the outside looking in at the playoffs that needs a top 6 scoring forward.

To a playoff team, Hossa's value drops considerably into that 4M+/yr deal.

If you were Detroit or Pittsburgh or any other team looking for a Cup legitimately, I see no reason to pay Marian Hossa substantial cash. He's Charmin soft and refuses to play in big games.

Edmonton gave up way to much for Heatley so I think it is good for them that he said no. Penner and Cogliano are good guys and not worth giving up just to get one star.
All you need to know when thinking of the NHL vs Madden series is the two people involved in making the games.

The NHL series is a giver, Madden takes the load.

Sedin's staying in Vancouver with a 5 year, 30.5M contract, with a no movement clause. So they are making $6.1M per season.
