Ryan Strome (NYI) was sent back to the Niagra IceDogs, and Ryan Murphy (CAR) was sent back to the Kitchener Rangers today. Brandon Saad (CHI) was only the second player since 03-04 to be picked in the second round and make his team.

So of the 9 drafted players who made the roster, 6 are left.

(EDM) Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (No. 1 pick)
I think he stays with the club now. He is working well for the Oilers, and I just don't see them throwing him back into Red Deer, when he could learn with Taylor Hall now in the NHL.

          (COL) Gabriel Landeskog (No. 2)
Automatic lock to stay in the NHL. So much so, his OHL team, Kitchener, released his rights so they could bring in another import player.

          (NJ) Adam Larsson (No. 4))
The second auto-lock to stay in the NHL. Larsson is picking up huge minutes. Plus where they going to send him, back to the Swed Elite league? Not a chance that happens, as I doubt the devils see that as a good "development" area over what they can do. He is already playing with men over there, might as well here.

          (OTT) Mika Zibanejad (No. 6)
I am not sure what they do here, as the entire team is just up in the air. I could see them keeping him because of the rebuild, but I also could see them moving him out because of that. Either way I still think Ottawa is stupid for not taking Sean Couturier at this spot.

          (WPG) Mark Scheifele (No. 7)
He is so loved by the fans, and if he can produce even the slightest, he will stay. He is another toss up, but I'm 75% sold on him staying in the Peg.

          (PHI) Sean Couturier (No. 8).
He is doing well, but I'm not sold yet on him staying. When Schenn comes back, he might get dumped, unless they move one of them off centre and have them play together. For now I will say he stays with the team.
All you need to know when thinking of the NHL vs Madden series is the two people involved in making the games.

Flyers traded a player yesterday so Couturier has room to stay with the team all season. Most likely Shelley is sent down after his suspension and Schenn is called up.

It isn't really about room at all, but rather how to develop the play. A lot of teams see value in going back to juniors, playing in the World Junior Championships, and getting one more year to grow. It all depends on the time and what they can offer, as you don't want to throw a kid in the NHL who isn't read.

Couturier is being seen as a "Jordan Staal" player. Good enough to play second line, but will play third to fill the role. So it might be better for him to play in the NHL. Plus also with the WJC, you got to look where he will play. Couturier right now is like the third or fourth line centre, behind Hopkins, Scheifele and I could argue with Huberdeau.

Ottawa should send Zibanejad to the AHL and stop pissing around with him. Pretty rediculous they had him sitting in the press box for the first two games while their shit team gets shitted on.

Considering Nugent-Hopkins got a hattrick tonight... I think it's a safe bet he'll be staying with the club.

It isn't the fact he got the hat-trick but all the other little things he was doing right. Faceoffs, making plays and doing exactly what he can do. He will stay because as I have said, at this point it is probably best he play with Hall now then get sent down to Jrs. again to just rip up the WHL.

Only sucks we won't get to see him at the World Juniors. We are taking a huge hit right now on that team.

Much preferred when John Tavares wasn't good enough to draw my ire.

Just ordered my first Red Wings tickets of the year for November 1st. Sitting row 3 in the corner on the home side. Should be awesome.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has scored 4 goals.
The Edmonton Oilers have scored 1.

lol the leafs continue to surprise.

Their PP is pretty meh as I think they are still trying to figure out who to put where. I do like their cycle game though from last year. You can tell the new coaching there has really helped. Their PK is really dam good and they're really agressive and taking away the shots from the point. Something I was looking for all last year.

I really hope the injury bug doesn't hit this team early this year like it did last year. Really deflated everything last season when they had the likes of Daryl Boyce and Joey Crabb playing first and second lines.
