Look at Crosby and Giroux. Both just happened and were pure "by chance".

I was watching Sportsnet and they went through the list of players out right now and I was like "jesus fuck get better helmets or something." Crosby, Letang, Giroux, Staal, Pronger...and other big name players are all out. Umm, wait a minute, where are all the fighters and guys taking punches to the head? That list doesn't make sense. Why would two goal scorers and a puck moving dman be on that list of players with a concussion.

Well it is because fighting does not equal concussions

Aaron Ward brought up two good points about the whole concussion thing.

1. 10 even 5 years ago 80 to 90% of these concussions would either of been ignored or not treated at all since the players would of just ignored the symptoms and play through it.

2. Player physical fitness level is as high as its ever been. Players are going through full off season training regimes (like the gary roberts off season programs) and they are simply bigger/faster and stronger then they were even 2 or 3 years ago.

LOS ANGELES (AP)—The Los Angeles Times says former Calgary Flames general manager Darryl Sutter has agreed to coach the Los Angeles Kings and will take over the team on Tuesday.

The newspaper, citing a source familiar with the situation but not authorized to speak publicly, reported Saturday that Sutter, a Canadian, signed a contract a few days ago but needed to wrap up family matters and receive U.S. immigration clearance. The Times says that’s expected to come through on Monday, and he will be introduced Tuesday.

The Kings declined to comment to The Associated Press on the report.

The Kings fired Terry Murray on Monday and made John Stevens interim coach.

The 53-year-old Sutter last coached with Calgary in 2006. He resigned as the team’s general manager last December.
