They said Coker has a 'big announcement' on Tuesday, to many leaks right now, only the Fedor vs Big Foot seems to be the legit one at this point

Maybe its a different match up, I dont like the Brett vs Werdum match, either fight Barnett, a young gun or just not be in it

If Overeem is in the tournament the 8 should be

          Overeem
          Werdum
          Fedor
          Barnett
          AA
          Sergei
          Big Foot
And a guy like Shane Del Rosario, Lavar Johnson, Cormier, rumor is Coker offered Ishii a spot also, not sure how he fits in though, doesnt do much for them

Having Rogers in it doesnt help anyone, if there is an 'upset' than you want it to be a up and comer who you can build on, rogers is damaged goods at this point, even AA knocking someone off isnt that bad, he has a fan base, he had big success in the past and you play the 'AA is Back!' angle

AA needs more than one KO to be back. Everyone's seen him get knocked the fuck out too many times at this point.

I like the idea of having guys like Del Rosario, Cormier, Ishii, etc. involved because they need fresh talent to be made in the heavyweight division. Guys like Fedor, Barnett, Arlovski won't be around for too much longer (ie. 2 years).

I think they're matching Arlovski with Kharitonov, hoping they either get a classic AA knockout win or a Kharitonov win (then they can cut AA).

My match-ups would look like this:

            Fedor vs. Big Foot
            Overeem vs. Josh Barnett

            Arlovski vs. Kharitonov
            Werdum vs. Daniel Cormier

Cormier vs ishii would be a good alternate fight, 2 olympians

                Its officia, Fedor/Bigfoot, AA/Sergei, Overeem/Werdum, Rogers/Barnett.

-Fedor is too fast for Bigfoot, I see a KO rather quickly.

-Can't pick AA, he's washed up. Same can be said for his opponent, but he looked ok a few nights ago. This is the hardest one to pick, but I just can't pick AA at this point with that weak chin.

-Overeem will destroy Werdum. Werdum is still a bum.

-I like Barnett. He will get Rogers to the ground and manhandle him there. This is assuming Barnett is still Barnett. Flash KO is always possible with Rogers, but Barnett fights smart and I don't think he will allow himself to be in a postion to get caught, because there is nothing else to fear about Rogers game. I see this going down like the Yvel fight.

Nice, I agree with almost everything you say there W2B. Any indication on how the brackets will shake out afterwards?

Fedor and Overeem are on opposite sides, for obvious reasons.

That's a dangerous game, if you feel like you have a money fight you should just make it. This is risky, but its high reward if they both get through to set up a ppv.

The more I think about this, the more I think its gonna fail. Don't get me wrong - I love the idea. The obvious hope is that Overeem and Fedor win out, setting up a fight with a ton of hype. Given the issues both fighters tend to have actually getting into the cage for SF, what are the odds that it would actually happen and be put together? One of them would be injured or "previously" engaged. We'll have Fedor & Overseem win out and still have a final of AA versus Rogers because they are available...

My hopes are high for this but my expectations are low.

                        NICE, Good Strikforce news

Overeem and Werdum will be interesting to see if it develops like the Fedor fight did. On paper, Overeem should crush him standing. You would think Overeem will be smart enough to stay off the ground with Overeem, but obviously, stranger things have happened.

                        Barnett should roll Rogers...hopefully.

Either way, we should get Fedor vs. Barnett/Werdum/Overeem.

Overeem would be the ideal fight but if Werdum can beat him & Barnett, holy shit.

Brackets are up, and Fedor would now face Overeem in the SEMIS.

I don't get it. If you aren't trying to set up a final, why not just do it in round one and gauruntee the fight everyone wants to see?

If Overeem can win this whole thing, I'll have absolutely no problem in ranking him #1 amongst MMA heavyweights.

Assuming everyone can stay healthy and will actually fight....everyone wins.

-We get Werdum vs. Overeem (I assume the belt will be on the line) which has been THE fight to make.

-Assuming Fedor is still Fedor, we will either get rob's wet dream of Fedor/Overeem or even Fedor/Werdum 2.

-On the other side, it's not as exciting but at least whomever makes it to the finals to fight Fedor/Overeem/Werdum...they should be a star by then.

And if someone like Rogers/Arlovski/etc. can't continue at some point, throw Daniel Cormier in and let's have some fun!

My best guess as to why they dont have them face first round is because once they fight, not a lot of people will stick around to check out the other fights in the tourney. So atleast now they have a chance to build up the rest.
