I like the direction that SRC is heading

New SRC Event Producer, SK Absolute leader Tenshin Matsumoto, talked in front of the press following the December 30th Sengoku Soul of Fight event.

He first talked about the SRC Jacket Rules fights. He thought that one 5 minute round was too short and that he’d like to improve the rules to get a little more of a different air about the Jacket rules fights than regular MMA fights.

He liked the Kickboxing/Muay Thai fights and the reaction of the audience during them. He wants to deal with stand-up fights in the future as well.

He thinks Rin Nakai, who he saw fight for the first time, has the charm to appeal to fans. He wants to continue putting on women’s fight from now on as well.

He said that Mamed Khalidov is up there with Kazuo Misaki and Jorge Santiago as the top layer of the SRC Middleweight division.

He’s very impressed with Jadamba and doesn’t think that his victories over Yokota and Gono were flukes.

KTaro Nakamura will most likely be one half of the first ever SRC Welterweight title fight this year. Matsumoto said that he wants to bring Enomoto back for more fights.

He loved the Yoshiro Maeda vs. Masanori Kanehara fight. He thought the Hatsu Hioki vs. Marlon Sandro title fight was amazing.

The first SRC event of 2011 will be in March or April. We might see some Jacket rules fights, Stand-up rules fights, and women’s fights in the numbered event series from now on.

Matsumoto has created an SRC EP twitter account as well. Follow him here.
I'm still not exactly fond of the idea of Jacket fights, but we'll have to wait until the footage drops to make a decision.
