    Liquidrob's Top 10 'Fighters' Rankings

This will replace the classic 'pound for pound' debate, these are the best 'fighters' in the game, you won't be seeing GSP, Edgar, Askren or whoever lacks any desire to finish or the ability to finish, the sport is still about 'fighting' and some fighters have forgotten that it seems

And it's not just "brawler's", we are still talking skill here, the best of the best who go in there to finish, even if they don't sometimes, you can see the fire, the killer instinct, but P4P theory still has it's place in here, but I need to see more

    Here we go

    1. Alistair Overeem
    2. Nick Diaz
    3. Anderson Silva
    4. 'Shogun' Rua
    5. Dan Henderson
    6. Cain Velasquez
    7. Jon Jones
    8. Gegard Mousasi
    9. Eddie Alvarez
    10. Patricio Freire

    10. Patricio Freire

One half of the ‘Pittbull’ brothers comes in at number 10, Patricio has the total game and is one of the most dangerous 145ers in the world, always looking to put his opposition away standing or on the ground

Patricio Freire’s lone loss was basically kicking the crap out of Joe Warren, since that fight he KO’d Georgi Karakhanyan with a left hook followed by some GnP and in his last fight he put on one of the more brutal standing KO’s you see against a very tough Wilson Reis who he previously beat by decision

If he wins his next fight he will get the rematch he deserves against Joe Warren for the Bellator FW Title

Sidenote: Look for Patricio’s brother Patricky Freire to make a run at this list very soon, these brothers throw down hard

    Record:16 - 1 - 0

    Wins:
    6 (T)KOs
    7 Submissions
    3 Decisions

    Losses:
    1 Decisions

Next Fight: Final of the Bellator 145 Tournament against Daniel Straus

      9. Eddie Alvarez

Eddie Alvarez would have been higher on the list, but his last fight hurt him a bit, Eddie really showed off his boxing and movement, but Curran fought one of the most defensive fights you can for 5 rounds. Constantly covering up, but he did show very good takedown defense, Eddie was still looking for big shots for the entire fight, his body work was tremendous also, Curran just took a beating and survived the fight, but this was a big fight for Eddie and he needed a finish

Eddie has put on some of the best fights you will see with his wins over Kawajiri and Hansen in DREAM, he is explosive, fast, well rounded and did to Roger Huerta what no one has, even Gray Maynard and Kenny Florian, Eddie put Huerta away. Before that fight with Huerta he rattled off 5 straight submission wins showing his versatility, he is not just a ‘stand and bang’ guy

      Record 22 - 2 - 0

      Wins 12 (T)KOs
      7 Submissions
      3 Decisions

      Losses 1 (T)KOs
      1 Submissions

Next Fight: Winner of the Patricky Freire and Michael Chandler fight

        8. Gegard Mousasi

Gegard Mousasi is a killer, don’t let him looking half asleep when he is fighting fool you, Mousasi is always looking for the finish, or at least looking to beat you up for the entire fight. It is good and bad, good because he does damage, bad because he doesn’t play the game and will lose fights based off of terrible judging

Gegard is better suited for the Pride days than the current MMA landscape, this is a guy that will do more damage from the guard than the guy on top, he will look better after the fight than ‘the winner’, it’s just his style and I love it

He has 30 wins and only 3 are by decision, K-1 fights where he wasn’t the favorite and won by KO, plus he is looking to box now, he is probably fighting in a weight class that he shouldn’t, 185 would suit him much better and I can see him going back down, but it doesn’t seem to bother him, he just wants to fight no matter the promotion or the sport for that matter

        Record: 30 - 3 - 2

        Wins:
        17 (T)KOs
        10 Submissions
        3 Decisions

        Losses:
        2 Submissions
        1 Decisions

Next Fight: Should have been Hendo for the belt, nothing in the works yet

          7. Jon Jones

I am definitely not in the ‘Jon Jones is the greatest to ever live’ camp, but this kid fights to finish, even in his couple decisions he is going for it, no lay and pray from a wrestling based fighter either, devastating elbows from the top, crazy strikes and even some submission skills

He entered the UFC and won 2 straight decisions, but the hype was building off the Bonnar win, than he proceeded to sub Jake O’Brien, destroy Matt Hamill before the DQ, elbow Vera and Matyushenko for wins and completely school Bader and sub him before he met Shogun

He took out one of the legends in the sport in Rua his last fight, just a brutal beating, he has natural advantages others don’t (reach of a 7 footer), but he uses it like you should, Jones keeps improving and picks up new skills very quickly, hopefully he keeps going for the kill now that he is the champ instead of feeling the pressure like others have in the past

          Record: 13 - 1 - 0

          Wins:
          8 (T)KOs
          3 Submissions
          2 Decisions

          Losses:
          1 Other

Next Fight: Possibly the winner of Evans vs Davis

I'm reading this. Just have no comment yet. Keep going.

I have to think Hendo, Diaz, and Overeem are making this.

Didn't want to interrupt either - I'm hoping Cruz doesn't get left off, he deserves to be on there.

                        I'm not thinking straight

I will get on track tomorrow, sorry for the inconvenience
