They pushed the Averno vs La Mascara mask vs mask match hard on the Galavision show this weekend.

I have to say, ever since Galavision picked up CMLL, it really shows just how shitty AAA is. CMLL is loaded with good young flyers and solid veterans who know how to work.

Yesterday, I saw the last few minutes of Ángel de Oro vs. Fuego on CMLL's show, was a pretty fun match. Stupid post-match angle though.

Forgot to mention that Averno & Mascara did the mask tearing gimmick in their match yesterday, and I got a real good look at Averno's face.

He's no Alberto Del Rio, i'll leave it at that. He's 34 going on 44.

Short, pudgy, old, and ugly? In 2011 WWE?

I hope for his sake the mask payoff is gigantic. Maybe if he helps Mistico get over they will keep him around to work with the younger guys on Superstars/NXT. I've been watching a lot of his stuff the last two days, he does a lot of subtle things that really hold a match together. He can go.

Biggest Issue is if the managment will accept him, I see him being diffrent enough to get a reaction. we will have to see if he passes the Dave Test.

Well, Averno lost the mask tonight on CMLL's big show.

                Description from thecubsfan

                6) La Máscara b Averno [mask]
Mascara tried to dive on Averno to start the match, but Averno bashed him with something metal and busted Averno open. Averno quickly took fall 1. Mascara came back to win fall 2 with a surprise small package.

In a third fall with dives and each guy trying each other’s moves, Mascara finally won with two Devil’s Wings and the campana. Including fall breaks, match was about 29 (corrected) minutes long.

Final attendance guess is 80%, which puts this in the 14,000 range.

The Alvarados celebrated with La Mascara while Mephisto consoled his partner.

Averno is Renato Ruiz Cortez, 34, 16 years a wrestler.

                    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Great pop for the finish...I love the emotion of a good mask vs mask match, its one of the few things in wrestling that still mean something "real", because it's a stip that is respected and isnt exploited or shit on.
