Forward Michael Ryder has signed a two-year deal with the Dallas Stars worth $7 Million.
Ryder played the previous three seasons with the Boston Bruins before becoming a free agent.
Last season in Boston he amassed 18 goals and 41 points in 79 games. He had 18 and 27 goals in previous seasons with the Bruins.
The 31-year-old forward began his career with the Montreal Canadiens, the team that selected him in the 8th round of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.
He spent four seasons with the Canadiens scoring a career best 30 goals twice, in both the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons.
The Stars have signed free agent defenceman Sheldon Souray to a one year, $1.65 Million contract.
After clearing waivers today, he was bought out by the Edmonton Oilers making him an unrestricted free agent.
The 35-year-old defenceman spent the entire 2010-11 season with the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League after clearing waivers and being sent down by the Oilers prior to the season.
Appearing in 37 games for the Oilers during the 2009-10 season, Souray scored four goals and added nine assists.
Signed for his offensive skills from the point, the Elk Point, AB native was only able to account for 30 goals during his three seasons in Edmonton after coming off a 26-goal season for the Canadiens in his final year in Montreal.
Souray was originally drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the 3rd round of the 1994 NHL Entry Draft.
The Stars have also signed defenceman Adam Pardy to a two-year, $4 million contract.
Pardy spent the last three seasons with the Calgary Flames who selected him in the 6th round, 173rd overall in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
The 27-year-old defenceman had seven points and a plus-3 rating for the Flames last season.
