The vote had been planned for some time but today Michigan's House of Representatives voted heavily in favor of regulating amateur MMA. It must now pass in the Senate before it can become the law.

This comes after Saturday when a fighter died after an amateur fight. FWIW, the coroner said there's no evidence the man suffered a traumatic injury during the fight (he passed out after he returned to his locker room, was given CPR by a paramedic and was taken to the hospital).

MiddleEasy had it as rumor and FightOpinion's Zach Arnold says it's true based on a few sources....at the last Invicta show, Fallon Fox showed up backstage where the fighters were and tried to start something so she'd get a fight off a feud. A company official told her to leave, she "refused" and ended up having some kind of beef with Bec Hyatt.

Shannon Knapp, the CEO, wasn't told of the whole thing that night.

Mark Hunt is still in NZ hoping for US Immigration to grant him a work visa in time for next weekend's scheduled fight against Junior dos Santos at UFC 160.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission has already granted Hunt a license to fight on the event AND Roy Nelson as well, who is the UFC's Plan B, in the event that Hunt is not granted a license to work in the US.

Hunt stated that Monday is his benchmark on whether his proposed travel to Las Vegas will go ahead or not, although we're thinking that it might be Tuesday in NZ Time since New Zealand is one day ahead of the States.

That would allow for either a Tuesday or Wednesday departure, landing in Las Vegas on Thursday (US Time) for Friday weigh-ins.

Meanwhile, Nelson's camp is yet to sign a contract for UFC 160, with salary discusses still underway.

They also had a shoot match on the show where 2008 Olympic judo gold medalist Satoshi Ishii beat 39-year-old Pedro Rizzo, who was one of the best MMA heavyweights a decade ago. Ishii won via three round decision. Ishii suffered a neck injury in the fight, so probably won’t be able to fight in July, which was when they wanted to use him again.
This was on an Antonio Inoki promoted pro wrestling show, but this was a legit shoot fight. Similar to how New Japan would do worked & shoot matches on the same shows when Inoki was in charge (that is where Lyoto Machida got his start, with Inoki in New Japan).

Crazy how the man who was supposed to save JMMA is reduced to doing freakshow fights on pro wrestling shows.

Man UFC tickets cost a lot, might have to cave and buy some for UFC 164.

My advice if you've never been to MMA..

Worst seats are the most expensive seats, on the floor. You cant see anything when they are on the ground, especially on the opposite side of the cage. You end up watching the screens.

Upper deck nose bleeds, same thing. Cant see shit, and you'll end up watching the big screens.

You want to try to be elevated but not too far away. This gives a nice view of everything.

Of course if you just want to experience UFC live and be part of the atmosphere, any seat will do.
