All you need to know when thinking of the NHL vs Madden series is the two people involved in making the games.

Meh, try playing Boston when they aren't on a back to back and then we can really derive some conclusions.
PS. Rangers suck. They really, really suck. I want the Canes to win tonight; it helps my South East winner bet and I see very little point in cheering the Rangers right now.Comment

The UFA market is going to be really, really shitty this summer. I'm looking forward to the exhaustive coverage of Brad Boyes' decision.Comment

Lightning fire Guy Boucher. Lindy Ruff being thrown about, but, Jon Cooper, of the team's AHL affiliate, is also a strong candidate.Maddon & Friedman: Pissing off the AL East since 2008

Jesus Christ what a complete turnaround from a strong start to the season. Everything looked great after the first couple weeks and then the bottom just came out. Hopefully Yzerman can find the right person to get this thing turned around.Comment

The one downfall of this team is it's physical presence. Guy was never too high on guys that were just brawlers. Guy would never have guys like Andre Roy or Chris Dingman on the roster. You had to be able to do more than just hit for Guy. Problem was, the roster strayed away from that too much and we just never hit anyone back. I hope Yzerman looks to strengthen the defense and goaltending...again. I hope that we can get away from this speed kills approach too, it just isn't working against the big boys.Maddon & Friedman: Pissing off the AL East since 2008

Went to the Oilers/Blues game last night at Rexall. Here is a quick picture from my seat.
Got to love NHL hockey seating, not a bad seat in the house really. Well maybe up in the gallery section on the other side of the rink.
Some notes
- was my first NHL game in I'd say 10 years. Oddly enough, even though I lived in Ontario, hockey central to the world, the two games I have seen have been both Alberta teams. PHX/CGY back ten years ago and now this game in Edmonton. We bought the tickets off kijiji for $50 a ticket.
- The arena is as dark as it is on TV. Before the game started they let this smoke out from each side of the rink and the scoreboard. I was like "the arena on TV is already hazy, why add more?"
- There wasn't a lot of hitting in this game as compared to seeing it on TV. A lot more 'shoving' then anything. Hitting didn't pick up till the third.
- David Perron is a beast of a player and needs more respect. He was all over the Oilers and his backcheck was the best of anyone in the game. He broke up so many plays by himself.
- Taylor Hall needs to learn he can't do it all himself and is turning into the Jason Spezza turnover machine. On more then one occasion fans around me were saying "Hall has the puck...and now he will turn it over". His turnover lead I believe to the third goal.
- You can really tell the difference between a young team and an experienced team. Oilers just made way to many mistakes, and were playing like they were still in juniors. Being fancy with the puck, and when they were down, they had no energy to get them back going. The team could use some heavy hitters to spark them, because they really have no one to throw it down. The Blues just pounded them all night.
- No goals for Edmonton (Thanks Halak for shutout for fantasy ;)) means no live crowd. From puck drop on, the crowd was completely dead. Sad to say, the biggest roar from the crowd came when they introduced two soldiers in the crowd, who got a standing ovation. Was kind of sad for this kind of team really. All you need to know when thinking of the NHL vs Madden series is the two people involved in making the games.
