    Floyd Mayweather Jr. Leaves Golden Boy Boxing

    There was a beef between Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions and its promoter Richard Schaefer that led the latter to resign from the organization. Due to his close relationship with Mayweather, Floyd has also bolted from Golden Boy. He'd been with them for his last 9 fights.

    Mayweather's fights will be promoted by his own Mayweather Promotions group.

    Everyone will make their money but what this means for boxing fans is a bunch of fights are now seemingly off the table because of the switch.

    Canelo Alvarez, Marcos Maidana, Amir Khan and others are all under Golden Boy so they're off limits to Floyd as opponents moving forward.
