That non-call on Curry was so lame. I get it, you don't want the game to end on free throws, but that was clearly a foul.
I am not one to blame refs for wins and losses. We lost Game 3 because we played terrible for 3/4, and were not prepared. Terrible gameplan, bad coaching. You lose Game 2 by 40, and come back with zero adjustments is beyond frustrating. Bad preparation and coaching from Mark Jackson. Not mad at the calls, but very mad at the preparation and gameplanning.
I think the foul on Draymond with 25 seconds left on the block call was way worse. Clearly a Blake charge. It was atrocious. And because of the whole NBA apologizing to the Clips after the miss call at the end of the Game 1, we are not going to get any calls the rest of the way. If Curry leans in just a little there, I think you have to call that, because it's his step back jumper, and he is falling back, depending on the vantage point from the refs, they can say maybe the Paul defense had nothing to do with the shot. However, on the other side, Paul has to let him land on the jumper.
I can't help to think, if everything is flipped,if it's Draymond dribbling and driving on Blake, and Paul shooting that end game 3 in LAC, do the Clippers, and Paul get those calls for them?? I'm thinking probably.
With that being said, W's lost Game 3 because we were poorly prepared yet again. We lose Game 2 by 40, and we make ZERO adjustments on offense and ZERO adjustments on defense. We come out playing the same way on defense and offense. The clippers horrible free throw shooting, and Curry miracle threes are the only reason the game got close in the end.
On offense, Jackson's gameplan including ZERO changes to get Curry open. I get that they are doubling as soon as he has the ball and crosses half court. But honestly their are some really simple things you can try to do. Let Iggy and Steve Blake bring the ball up. Let Curry run around through picks and screens without the ball and get open like DOC Rivers is using JJ Reddick. Curry is also very good off catch and shoot. Or drawing the defense over to him to get someone else open.
On defense, Blake G. torched us, especially when Lee was guarding him. We start of through three quarters with Lee guarding Blake again. Same exact gameplan. We finally start doubling him in the 3rd with old man JO. I like JO, but he is very limited out there right now. Draymond played Blake well very late in the game, and he really needs to start and play Blake from tipoff. Also Hilton Armstrong in very very limited minutes has played Blake and played well in the time he is out there. Most coaches would see this and reward him with more minutes. I mean let him pick up some quick fouls on Blake and DJ and give Draymond a breather if anything. But Jackson just won't do this.
On the last play we gave the clippers a preview of the last play and didn't make any changes to it. Curry got us back in the game on 3 threes from that same exact spot he took the last shot from. To make matters worse, with 8 seconds left, Clippers with a foul too give, we run a play knowing we are getting fouled, to that same spot. On the final shot, the inbounds play was setup exactly the same, and Curry ended up in the same spot, and a vet defender like CP has an idea of where Curry and the play might be headed.
