The pitching matchups for the last two games favor the Twins, while tonights matchup heavily favors the Tigers, so while I wouldn't go so far as to give the division to the Twins if they win tonight, it would be a serious blow for the Tigers

Especially since the Tigers close with the WhiteSox and the Twins finish the season playing the Royals.

It looks like the Tigers have tonights game (1 out in 9th, 6-4 Tigers).

Edit: Oh boy, now its 6-5 Tigers with 2 outs.

Big win tonight...hopefully it will be the deciding factor.

However, tomorrow we face Carl Pavano, who is 4-0 with something like a 1.4 ERA against the Tigers this season...and then Nate Robertson is going for the Tigers on Thursday which is a death wish in itself.

Against Chicago...we'll have Jackson/Porcello/Verlander going but the White Sox always whoop our ass, so I'm worried anyway.

Best case scenario...and I really hope it happens...is finishing out these last two games with the Twins to lock it up on Thursday, and then not even pitching Jackson/Porcello/Verlander and rolling like Figaro, Miner, and Bonine back out there to let the big three rest for the Yankees.

However, I still don't have much faith. The Tigers have been playing like absolute shit, not even looking like they want to be out on the field over the last two weeks, and I'm expecting the worst so if they pick their shit up, it will be more rewarding...and if they keep playing like shit, I won't be too down. Sorry, I know it sounds like I'm being negative to my team, but if you had watched every game of theirs all season, you can see every single trend has never been broken. Rodney and his 10.5 ERA in non-save situations, Miner's "one good outing one bad outing" rotation, Verlander dominating for 6 out of 7/8 innings every start and giving up 2-3 runs in the other two innings, which he's done each of the last 7 or 8 starts now it seems like...Inge is a shoo-in for strikeouts if there's runners on base most nights...Cabrera will nearly always swing at the first pitch...Laird is totally useless at the plate, etc. You can see the same things every single night, and it's gotten progressively worse as the season goes on.

You could flip that shit around, Liard is amazing behind the plate, Verlander only allows 3-4 runs, Cabrera gets plenty of hits on the 1st swing, and at loeast you get a good laugh when Inge turns away from a breaking ball when its right down the plate and makes him look like a joke. What's wrong with being scared and realistic? I never understood being confident as a fan. As a player it makes complete sense, but for us, to be confident going in is just asking for a letdown. Besides, it's not like any of us that really love our teams aren't pacing and worried until the game is over anyway.

It's much worse in the NFL, particularly as I've seen lately with Falcon's fans (no offense intended, I just see a lot of "Wait till we see you in week 8! You'll be sorry!")

There's nothing wrong with having some confidence as a fan. It what makes you a fan in my opinion. The best part of being fans for different teams is that everyones confident theres is the best. Unless your a Nationals fan..

See I disagree. I mean, I understand the basic idea of "we're great, we're going to win, let's prove the haters wrong!" but, at the end of the day, it's silly to talk about it. We have no effect on the game, as much as we'd like to believe we do (and I'm guilty of this, I have an undefeated hat that hasn't lost worn backwards --- but I digress)...my point is just that confidence really has no place in fandom because WE don't have the skill. We're just watching and hoping that our impressions are correct. We can hope, and we can pray, and we can pace, but other than that, they do the rest.

It's semantics, but I think that it's what makes being a fan fun. We don't actually control the outcome, so it's terrifying, exciting, exhilarating, exhausting, and hopefully, in the long run, gratifying.

But even more surprising the LA Dodgers have given Rockies an opportunity to win the Division if they lose tonight (they are down 0-5)! Granted the Rockies would have to go 4-0 to end the season 3 of which are in LA. But come on the way the Dodgers are limping into the playoffs not crazy.

Best news of the day is I got picked to be able to purchase NLDS tickets! Hells ya!
