Rivers needs to leave, because it appears Duke nation has turned on him a bit. Right now his stock is about as high as it will ever be, so he needs to leave.

Royce White is an interesting talent, but as Archer mentioned the anxiety issues will hurt him. I've also read that scouts are concerned about his maturity and his work ethic. If I were White I'd consider returning and working on showing that he's overcome these issues. Iowa St should have a better team next year, so if he can lead them to challenge in the Big 10 and make a good tournament run he could improve his stock drastically. He then could ride the media wave of overcoming his past into being a high lottery pick.

this is pretty wrong imo. Most Duke fans love him. Rivers, Thornton, and the Plumlees seemed to be the only ones that cared about basketball. He's leaving because he hated seeing certain Duke players put in minimum work at getting better and then not get up for the games. He hated that the players didn't want to win as bad as him.

Also, his stock could definitely get better if he moved to point guard next year. However, it seems he is making this decision based on the emotion of the team and just doesn't want to deal with it next year.

Rivers isn't a PG. You can't just move a scorer to the point and expect him to succeed. Rivers is a scorer first and foremost and he was recruited to be a PG. Quinn Cook is the PG of the future. Yes, he can literally play the point, because he has the ballhandling skills, but he isn't the distributor and isn't good at setting up his teammates (making them better)....you just don't learn how to do these things. IMO Rivers' game is more suited for the NBA style of basketball, which is isolation and screens.

It became evident down the stretch of this season that he was their primary threat that came every night.

He became the focal point of the offense...so I wouldn't say the coaches didn't like his style, they trusted him to take the ball on the wing (where he loves it), and a big man would set a pick and for him to make his move whether to drive or take the 3.

Also the lack of a 3rd option became more of an issue down the stretch as well as Dawkins just completely fell off the earth, while Curry was mostly on the ball trying to create (and he's not the one to do so, not quick enough). Also the Plums were too inconsistent on the inside to become a threat...Mason showed he had moves down on the block but he looks so stiff when he's not just making that quick initial move...but I do agree with you that Rivers doesn't have that PG instincts, although I'll say he can pass the rock pretty well.

He's good in iso and can score very easily in high ball screen situations.

He's also good decent height/length for an NBA two.
