I heard it was one round (3 dunks), no judges and the fans vote.

My Opinion:
I think this is terrible....they need to pick better dunkers, but I low key think Paul George will do well. I'm questioning the choice to add Chase into the mix. Like, really?? I'm sure there are gonna be better dunkers than him, but heck, he may surprise us. I am not a fan of the format at all. ONE FREAKIN ROUND??? If you're gonna do one round, why don't you add more than 4 dunkers then? Or even add one more dunk each?? I'm looking forward to watching the 3 point shootout instead, my expectations of this dunk contest are a lil low, but I really hope it ends up being better than last year.

Word on the street was if Shumpert was in it, he was going to have Lin lay on a couch and dunk over him. That would have won for sure, especially with fan voting

Eh, well I expect at least one prop dunk, but as long as they don't overdo it this year, it'll be fine haha. I wanna see something AMAZING, but I don't know if this crew will do it, maybe Evans? I hope Chase shocks the world, and proves me wrong about his entry in the dunk contest though lol.

It's not that people want stars, it's that these teams are never on TV so people aren't familiar with this set of players.

I'm personally happy that we don't have to watch some star player give half-effort but still win thanks to the retarded fan voting.

Traditionally what made the dunk contest work was that star players were involved. For most Jeremy Evans doing a dunk isn't the same as Blake Griffin. All-Star weekend is a celebration of the leagues stars. Having guys like LeBron James, Blake Griffin, etc gives the contest more hype and the appearence of a better product. The league needs to do something about this or the contest will continue to suffer. You need stars to draw people in. No one on this forum can tell me that if the dunk contest participants were LeBron James, Black Griffin, Derrick Rose and Derrick Williams you wouldn't be more hyped for this. You can have one or two non-star players, but you need to at least have one.

I still don't understand why LeBron James doesn't get in at least one of these. SMH

Jeremy Evans. Only decent dunk he did was dunking two balls at once after a teammate tossed them up to him while sitting down. The other 2 he did sucked. Dunk Contest was boring

Uh...yeah. Without props or theatrics, what else is there to do dunkwise? Backflips? This ain't NBA Jam...even NBA-level athletes are only capable of so much physically.

If people think leaping over another player is too played out, what the hell are these guys supposed to do without props and shit?

Here's an idea for next year...add a defender. Don't make it just a dude dunking, make him actually have to beat a guy trying to block him. Get Howard and Ibaka out there, and make these guys jam over them.
