The man that can currently lay claim to being the strongest man on the face of the planet is set to bring some serious pain to the world of mixed martial arts in the near future.

Five-time Worlds Strongest Man, Mariusz Pudzianowski, has been announced to face off with fellow MMA newcomer Marcin Najman in a heavyweight match-up set for Warsaw, Poland as the headliner for an event titled KSW 12.

The most decorated champion in the history of The Worlds Strongest Man, Pudzianowski captured the title a record five times during the years of 2002, 2003, 2005, 2007, and 2008.

Also affectionately referred to as Super Mario, Pudzian, Dominator, and possibly the gnarliest nickname of all time, The Big Python, Pudzianowski is a fourth kyu green belt in Kyokushin kaikan Karate which he has been studying and training since just eleven years of age. On top of his many years spent practicing Karate, Mariusz has also trained in competitive boxing for over seven years now.

As it stands right now, the 6′1″, 285 pound freak of nature is also listed as the top competitor in this years Worlds Strongest Man competition, which is slated to take place between the dates of September 26 and October 3. This years event will be hosted from Malta, a beautiful independent island in the center of the Mediterranean.

he'll be too gassed by the 2nd round. That's just too muscle-bound for a cardio intense sport, his size is going to work against him unless he can finish the fight early.

Dude will either disembowel the guy in 30 seconds or faint in exhaustion getting out of his corner.

I also think he will gas, not because of lack of cardio, but probably because he will spaz and he wont be able to stay relaxed

I havent watched him compete in the WSM stuff, but I guess he has some of the better if not best cardio in thise events and MMA guys do stuff like these guys do to help there cardio, with that being said I can see him putting his hands on his knees in the 2nd round looking like one of these seasons TUF fights

This is awesome. I love Mariusz Pudzianowski. I've been watching lifting videos and strongman competitions of him for the past 5-10 years.

His cardio is great when compared to the other guys in the strongman competitions, but obviously you just can't compare those guys to MMA fighters. Though the shit that they do is extremely anaerobic as 100% of the exercises revolve around power/explosiveness and are all based on time, I still doubt that it will so easily translate to fight endurance.

I really think the only way you can truly build optimum fight endurance is through sparring, so hopefully he's been spending more time in the ring and on the mat than in the weight room.

Awesome. I hope this fight gets posted somewhere.

I honestly think he will do well. He may not ever get to be a star in it or even close, but on lower level fights, his talent alone will allow him to dominate.

From what I saw, he didnt have as much hip torque as you'd like to see, plus he wasnt exhaling a little bit with each strike like youre supposed to. Doesnt sound like much, but it helps keep the oxygen flowing to your muscles which helps you fight longer, plus, when you exhale in short bursts, it tightens up your core to soften the damage from body-counters
