A few questions for TW10 noob

To your first question, you go into your career and you will see something that says "Tournament Challenges". You go in that, and a bunch of challenges will be available. You need to beat so many challenges and earn so many points in order to move onto other courses and such. There is 4 challenges per course, and they can range from one hole, to a full 9. Each has a different thing to beat.

For the second question, I just play 1 round per tourny and 4 rounds for the majors. I'd probably say though 2 rounds for non-major events is your best bet. If you want a little more realism rather then just shooting one round and that is it for that tourny.

As for putting, well everyone has problems, and the best thing I can say is, practice it. Something to try is, turn on the putting preview thing. Drop down to like pro level or something. Then when you get on the green, do not hit the putt preview right away. Instead, line up your shot as if you were you think it needs to go, then hit the preview. You will then see if you are on the money or far off. If you are off, you can learn from your mistakes. Read the greens and see why you were missing the putt. Then the power part just comes from practice.

1. How do you unlock things in the Pro Shop. It says things like "Complete 3rd challenge on X course" and such. Where do I find these challenges and how do I accomplish them?

Goto the career menu and then goto Tour Challenge. these are the challenges you must complete to unlock apparel and courses. FYI - all the courses are unlocked for online play. If you can get online, do the play the pros tourneys. they are great

2. I'll admit I don't avidly watch Pro golf, so when it comes to the # of rounds for invitationals and tours I'm unsure of how many rounds to select for each. Any advice, I usually aim for realism but 4 rounds seems like a lot. What do most use as their settings?

i use 4 rounds for everything cause that how real golf is. playing 1 round is only about 20-30 mins. You cant save mid round, but after each round you can save it for the next time you play. Same applies to any online multiple round tourney

3. How in the hell do I better my putting? Without the putt preview it seems near impossible to sink a lot of putts. I'm downright awful, with even 1 yard putts making me worry. I seem to almost always overshoot the hole because it seems like the power is inconsistant. I feel like I don't even know how to setup my putt, and it seems like it shouldnt be this hard as you simply adjust the cursor on the green based on the slope, speed, ect. I don't know, if you could walk me through your process of reading and adjusting your shots on the green that would be wonderful.

the putting scheme is new this year and works excellent. But you have to know how it works. The putt meter is automatically setup for the distance to the cup shown by a white line in the meter. This doesnt take into account for an uphill or downhill putt. So you must adjust accordingly. When you see the break going right or left, you want to move the cursor to where u think the break will be. Faster and slower moving lines on the grid will show you how fast or slow it will break.

Putting is a challenge (as it should be) but not to the point where its not realistic. I will try to walk you thru a putt

12 foot putt going 4 inchs up (up arrow is uphill and down arrow is downhill)
Breaks right to left.

By default, the meter will have you hitting at exactly 12 feet or power. The 4 inchs uphill is not taken into this, nor is the break. Look at the break and see how fast the lines are moving from right to left. this is where you will have to judge the putt. Move your cursor to the right to account for the break.

Since the putt is 12 feet with 4 inchs up, a good rule of thumb is to add 1 foot of power for every inch of incline/decline.
So in this case, add 4 feet for the 4 inchs uphill. 16 feet power......make sense? Keep in mind that this is a rule of thumb and will change based on severity of break or incline/decline or putt surface conditions (slow, average, fast of lighting fast)....but its a good foundation to base things off of

Lets say there is no break at all and its a level putt. I would still hit the power just a tad beyond the white line just to be safe. Longer putts (25 feet or more) i tend to use a little less power because it seems to roll farther on long putts.

putting takes experience with the game. You need to play it to see how putts break and judge the speed. But you will get the hang of it. And stick with the tour pro level....its worth it
