AI Interested In Grizzlies

Ric Bucher of ESPN is reporting that Allen Iverson, who has been in discussions with the Heat, has contacted the Memphis Grizzlies with interest to play there.

Due to his style of play and selfishness AI isn't a good fit anywhere. I was going to say a team who is looking to add some life and sell tickets may be interested, but at this point in his career I'm not sure AI even could do that. A team like Memphis who has a young core of guys still growing together would be foolish to bring in a volatile player such as AI.

yeah he's got basketball left in him for himself, not for the team he is going to play for.

I say, if he's still around come later, Boston signs him. We took on Starbury, why would A.I be any different.

AI wants minutes and to score points. A championship contender already has established stars and would just want AI off the bench as a spark. AI believes he's more than a spark of the bench, which he probably is, but his style of play doesn't lead to championship success. You don't want him being the primary option while chucking up shots and shooting low percentages as he's done throughout his career. His time has come and gone and he needs to realize that he needs to reinvent his game if he wants to have a longer career.

AI has said he wants to play for a championship now. The only teams currently interested in him are Charlotte, Memphis, and Miami. Everyone else is scared of him.

I think if he ends up on a team like Boston (doubt it) or even Miami, he will adjust to not being the main guy. Hes got something to prove now, hes going to have to adjust or its busto or him. If he can live with 15-20 shots a nite and be willing to dish out 6-7 assists (which he CAN do, he just has to be willing to do it) he can be a valuable asset to the team.

Mentality is the difference. Marbury came to Boston with the understanding that he was just a role player who was going to contribute. AI on the other hand believes he still should be treated like a superstar and be given the keys to the offense.

True 15-20 is definitely too high, in comparison even some of the best players only shoot 20+ shots.. so AI wont be getting that anymore. Between 10-12 is a more realistic number.

i loved AI when he was in Denver, but i doubt either would want the other back, although that would be a good team

Why would AI be interested in the Heat? Wade runs Miami and Chalmers proved to be a steal in the draft

Wherever Iverson plays, as long as he gets minutes, what he will do is shoot. He won't get more than a minimum contract if he gets signed before the season starts at all.
