On one hand, you say the Yankees are "getting older year after year", yet condemn them for replacing Damon and Matsui with Granderson & Johnson, two younger players. Huh?
And they didn't "lose" Melky Cabrera, they traded him for Javier Vazquez in a trade that can only be described as highway robbery. Cabrera isnt a good young player, he's a painfully average player. In fact, you can say he's a painfully below average player, considering his career OPS+ is under the "average" baseline of 100 (it's 88, which if you believe in dork stats, means he's 12% worse than an average player).
At any rate, the trade fixed the only real weakness the Yankees had, which was the back end of the rotation. They were the best team in baseball and won the WS with 3 starters. Now they run 5 deep, and oh by the way, also fixed another minor flaw by upgrading the outfield defense.
I dont see how anyone can surmise that the best team in baseball didnt get better. This post reeks of someone who is hoping the Yankees slip, but with nothing to base it on.
1. Yankees
2. Poor Red Sox, trying to play catchup with bums like Mike Cameron
3. who cares, they'll be 15 games back
