I think the CC signing is more important than the Tex signing and I think the Rays will fall back to third and struggle this year but other than that I like it.

The healthier Jays? Vernon Wells cannot stay healthy to save his life. You very rarely get solid outings from any other pitcher besides Halladay. God forbid Halladay ever goes down and your season ends right then and there.

Yeah and with him plus all our other injuries last season we still were 10 games above .500.

Our pitching staff was best in ERA (it wasn't even close) and Burnett was a detriment to that number.


The Jays season hinges on the bats of Wells, Rios, Overbay and Rolen. Not our pitching (or defence for that matter) as those are amongst the league's best.

Not to mention Dustin McGowan is out. And wins and losses don't matter as much when judging a pitcher so I don't know why you'd bring up Burnett's record. He's one of the better pitchers in the league.

Burnett is one of the better pitchers in the league? Seriously? Ok, lets put his record aside then.

His 100 earned runs? (15th worst in MLB)
His 86 walks? (11th worst in MLB)
His 4.07 ERA which had him at 50th in the MLB? (He's only once been sub 4 in his career, a stunning 3.98)

He's a strikeout pitcher......and outside of that he's sucking major cock and you guys who probably have never tuned into a Jays game outside of seeing your own team play.......will see soon enough how awesome Mr Burnett is.


The Yanks will get one good season at most out of him (if his arm doesn't give in before that)......and it would probably be this one. Outside of that.....waste of money. Don't worry, you'll see soon enough.

A.J. Burnett's ERA has been under 4.00 6 times in his career. I don't know where you get that he's only been below 4 one time. His career ERA is a 3.87 not the 3.98 you posted.

As for the other stuff, we'll wait and see at the end of the season. The Jays record will be ftl and Burnett will have around 18 wins with a sub-3.75 ERA.

The top three is going to be a mix of Tampa Bay and Boston up top, and then the Yankees either 2nd or 3rd. I really think the loss of ARod for a huge length of time is going to hold them back a bit. That being said, I never would rule the Yankees out. The Yankees do need these things to go in their favor though:

• Wang and Posada play well after last year's injuries.
• Swisher needs to go back to old form, even for a bit. Anything to help out the loss of ARod will be huge.
• Can Damon have another season like last year?
• Matsui needs to stay healthy and set a pace for 20+ HR

A lot of this is because of the loss of ARod. The offense is going to need to step up in the beginning of the season. The fact that he is not out at the end of the season is an advantage, since everyone is fresh at the beginning and hopefully for them, hot.

That being said, it will be a down year for the Yankees, in their minds. Unless the Rays turn out to be duds, or the Red Sox slump, the Yankees will miss the playoffs. They will get between 85-90 wins, but that won't be enough to compete in an AL East where 95 wins is what you need to try to win the division. Those three teams will beat up on the Jays and Orioles I think, but those two will both hover at around .500.

5. Toronto Blue Jays

The Jays will end up 5th again, and fans in Canada will get impatient with the team. Without Burnett, the Jays do not have a good starting rotation, except for Halladay, although they do have some young pitching in Marcum and McGowan, I don't think they are ready to have an break-out season, which is why I think the Jays will end up 5th.

Players to watch: Young SP

Their season will highly depend on their young SP in both Marcum and McGowan. If those two can remain solid, and Halladay have another Cy-Young type year, then the Jays can make some noise. If not, well then the Jays will end up in the celler again.

Well I'm not saying they are going to win the AL East right now, but they certainly don't look to be landing here.

Meh long season and frankly no one had the Jays doing anything because of everything they lost after last season and huge question marks everywhere. Tampa and New York are starting to play better baseball and Boston will be there all year long. Toronto could slip back to 4th place very easily in very little time.

Burnett's really only had 2 bad games out of 8 (vs Boston, vs Toronto), to go with 1 mediocre game (vs Angels). 4 quality starts out of 8, with a win in the other 1 (first game against Baltimore), he just got pulled early (allowed just 2 runs on 5 and a third).
