I was left disappointed. I had higher expectations for it.
I agree that it didn't need to be in 3D and felt like I wasted my money going to see it in 3D over just a regular theater in that regard.
The Cheshire Cat is awesome, the characters were good, but yeah it was just poorly executed in what was otherwise a cool conceptual take, etc. I also felt like the ending needed work, and hated it when the Mad Hatter did that dance at the end, it felt so out of place from everything else and forced. Reminded me of the "dance video" scene of the Matrix.
Overall I give it a 6.5/10 for the art direction/characters/good aspects, but it had so much more untapped potential. Ah well, here's hoping American McGee gets in the director's chair for his version of Alice.

Late to the party.
I was pretty excited for this, thought Burton would keep what the cartoon takes out of the original stories. Not only did it just drivel on with this horrible plot, it was just flat out boring. Some movies like Beowulf or Where the Wild Things Are can lack certain characteristics to make them quality films, but still keep you entertained for the few hours. For the cast also, it's really disappointing, they had a chance to create this great story and have 7-10 actors who can put up world class performances, and it just failed to deliver.
