Are NFL Championships equal to Super Bowl wins?

The Super Bowl is now in sight and the age old discussion of whether or not NFL championships count the same as Super Bowl wins when you are discussing the legacy of a team. It seems that only NFL fans, and fans in particular of teams that have been successful in the Super Bowl era are the only sports fans that slice and dice historical significance.

Where do you stand?

pre SB era stuff doesnt really count imo. it was a completely different league back then. the browns went to 10 straight championships but how many of those were with the idgaf league

Of course they count, why would pre expansion championships in any sport not "count"?

A better question, is how do you treat AFL Championships pre merger? That was an entirely different league, even though the quality of player was essentially equal, so it's trickier to break down.

Shameful disrespect for history and a serious lack of perspective in this thread.

If you don't think they count, or count "less", that's fine, but you also have to accept that what you're watching now also doesn't count. Because in 30, 50, 100, 150 years the sport will grow & evolve like it always has, and some assclown on the internet will discredit today's game just as you guys are doing to football that was played barely 50 years ago and isn't all that much different in the grand scheme than what you see now.

Not sure how winning one extra game (against weaker competition then they faced in the NFL title game) legitimizes the Packer SB teams more than the NFL Championship teams that won the previous couple of years. Pretty dumb.

Trying to cross compare players and teams from the 80's and 90's (the last of the "great" teams, IMO) to NOW is impossible. Rules changes have changed the game of discussion historically of the players from now to yesteryear so dramatically.

exactly...but i guess if you think on the level of ramjackson, like w2b does, then you think winning the AAFC title is as meaningful as winning the SB.
