Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment today announced Batman: Arkham Asylum as the title for its follow-up to the award-winning, critically acclaimed hit videogame Batman: Arkham Asylum. Batman: Arkham City will be available for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, Games for Windows PC and the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system in Fall 2011.

I played the first game via gamefly and liked it I can only imagine the improvements they make and the amount of gadgets they add Im excited for this game

the first one was basically perfect in its gameplay. This is the type of game where they can add some cool moves and gadgets to tthe gameplay and thats all u need
Then the rest of the game just being expanded. maybe a GTA size sandbox city with ALOT more of the evil folks to play against

I agree. I remember when that article came out of all the trademarks WB has secured. There were a few other names that were much better than this one. The one I liked the best was Gotham in Ashes or something like that.

Fall 2011 is a long ways off too.

Sounds like we still have to wait a while for this, but I am pretty damn excited. First one was great, I'm interested to see what they do with the storyline.

In the trailer, they show the Iceberg Bar, isn't that Penguins? Maybe we get Catwoman and Penguin...

It's open world, Batman can now jump off buildings and glide, then use a grapling gun to keep his momentum.


The improvements to combat are ridiculous, there's going to be so much depth to the fighting system.

What I've gathered from the article:
-Quincey Sharpe (the guy from the first game) took credit for stopping the Joker in the first game, he decided that Arkham Island was unfit to hold the inmates after the first game, so he bought off a section of the city and put all the inmates there. The inmates can do what ever they want, there's only one rule, try to escape and die.
-Villains like the Joker and Two Face have their own gangs in the game.
-The game starts with Two Face kidnapping Catwoman and planning to kill her to get more street cred (this part sounds a bit lame).
-Hugo Strange runs Arkham City
-The Joker is sick but it might not be because of the venom.
-You start the game with all of the gadgets Batman had at the end of the first game.
-There are side missions you can do throughout the game.
-Combat is improved a lot. One example, you can spray explosive gel on a thugs back as you jump over him. I assume stuff like this is a cutdown cut scene? Not sure. You can also block two attacks at once.
-Batman will also have smoke bombs.
