Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck will not play Sunday against the New York Giants after suffering a concussion in Sunday's loss in Oakland.

Backup Charlie Whitehurst will start his first NFL game when the Seahawks play the Giants at 1 p.m. at Qwest Field.

Hasselbeck has not been cleared to play, coach Pete Carroll said. The decision was made Thursday that Whitehurst would start. He was informed by quarterbacks coach Jedd Fisch, but Whitehurst said he had the sense for a couple days that this would be the situation.

that game was years ago ( 3 or 4? ) but will always remain infamous for feely missing 3 fg's and shockey's premature celebration. i dont see the giants having the same problems this time, but who knows. west coast trips are never easy.
