Aside from Rudy Bears, what a shit prelim lineup.

That's actually a good thing, because I can blow these prelims off and watch the UFC prelims instead.
 
Askren vs. Hieron....

Fight was decided based on round 3 (which of course is the one I missed). Hieron easily took rounds 1 & 5 while Askren easily took 2 & 4.

Hieron was able to defend his takedowns in the two rounds he won which surprised the fuck outta me.

Askren is still 100% wrestling but when he was able to get to the ground, he dominated Hieron for the most part.

Sucks for Hieron as he came sooooo close.
 
I had Askren in Round 3.

Hieron should have pounced when he hit the big kick in the 5th. He had to know it was going to be a close decision, and he was dominating the round. There was no risk in following Askren to the ground in that spot, because it's not like Askren is some kind of submission ace. You have to try to finish the fight at that point. Instead, he was busy showboating.
 
My goodness. Prindle and Santos have some power in their hands. I jumped out of my seat when Santos slumped Grove.

Heiron came up short because he refused to capitalize on his openings. I understand that he didn't want to follow Askren to the ground, but there were several times where he staggered Askren a bit and just didn't follow up with some ground strikes.
