Bellator get a million viewers tonight?

Spike has done a good job of promoting, but than factor in the sabotage from the mma media, also TNA does over a mill for the lead in, some say they get 1.5

What do you think?

The lack of much coverage by the mma media is not a reason they wont.

They've been doing something like 400k for the highlight shows. Maybe they jump a bit to 500-600k?

I would say 600k and under would be a major dissapointment and a bad sign

All I'm saying is, it won't be an overnight thing. They will increase their base slowly, over time.

They're not going to retain a majority of the TNA audience and Bellator's fanbase is already small to begin with. It's about teaching MMA fans that there is an option on Spike every Thursday and judging by stupid pro wrestling fans (who always tended to forget a timeslot change despite being told a million times), it takes time.

With the way week 1 is booked, hopefully they don't lose a significant # of viewers as the show progresses. Now, that would be a bad sign.

If Bellator does 1M I would call that a major success.

If they do 600k or less, that won't even be much more than what the highlight shows have done and it would be a really bad sign.

I think King Mo will do better, so they will break 1M next week, and I think Mo can peak 1.2, 1.3, maybe higher is he has a long fight.

The important thing last night was that they had three good finishes and four decent fights. I'm sure they lost viewers when the first title fight started slowly. Good fights aren't as important as big stars to UFC because they are established, but it's important at this stage of the game for Bellator to give people action. When you have a million viewers, stars will be created organically, they don't need to worry about that. But fight quality is key, hopefully Mo doesn't wrestlefuck for three rounds next week and he puts the jobber away.

I kind of think Bjorn is a scummer, but MMA needs a strong secondary promotion. It's good for the sport when multiple orgs are doing well and creating stars. I'm really pulling for these guys to do big things, maybe even get back on CBS down the line and do some PPV's, who knows.

I was just arguing with a guy on the UG about this, Bellator needs exciting fights, "Big Names" are kind of pointless because they dont have any besides King Mo and maybe Daley, Chandler, Curran, etc...are not big names, they need the fights to sell to the fans, not names

You should inform him that Chandler, and even Alvarez, would routinely do some of the worst numbers on MTV2. They mean absolutely nothing to ratings. There is a difference between star fighters and stars, that guy clearly doesn't get it.

The key here, is that a guy like Chandler can develop into a draw now if he keeps having great performances like he did last night in front of a million people. You cant become a star in front of 180,000. That's why good fights are the key. If Mo & Askren both dry hump their way to victory next week with little action, that won't be good. Especially Mo, they are putting massive resources behind him, not just Bellator but the entire network lol, he needs to look good.
