Bengals WR Chris Henry Seriously Injured in Car Accident

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry has been seriously injured in a car accident in North Carolina Wednesday afternoon.

The Bengals have confirmed that Henry was involved in a serious accident in Charlotte around 2:30 p.m. The team says he suffered " very serious injuries."

Preliminary reports indicate Henry may have also suffered severe head injuries.

Sources tell 9News Henry was in North Carolina with his fiance.

The Bengals and police have not released any other information at this time.

Henry has been on injured reserve since breaking his arm in the November 9 game against the Baltimore Ravens.

One of my former teammates is related to Henry's fiancee, thoughts and prayers go to Henry's family.

On the news they described his injuries as life-threatening.

Just spoke to Dr. Allenberg, the head of the ICU at Piedmont Regional Medical Center, he confirmed Chris Henry has passed away and the passenger in the car with Chris Henry has sustained massive head trauma and is undergoing treatment.

Damn, this sucks. Henry was a good WR who had the potential to be really good. He never seemed to have his head on straight, and this is just another bizarre sequence in his life. Never good to see someone go down at such a young age, no matter who he is or what he's done.

My dad is the chief of police in Huntersville, the town just north of Charlotte, and he was with Rodney Monroe, the Charlotte police chief when he got the call about this. Basically, from what my dad understood, the fiancee was weaving back and forth (jerking the wheel), apparently trying to throw him off I guess.
