Hands down, you can argue for the #2 spot with whatever you want but this will always be my #1. Not that you care about my opinion anyways lol
Sad that it didn't sell good, you'd think people back in those days would've appreciated it, it didn't go platinum until 2001.
The way he rapped on these songs was amazing to me, it went right along with the melodies of his beats. Even if he was rapping about bullshit it would've sounded nice. I love the way the songs sound, no punchlines or anything just straight let the song and lyrics flow.
Maybe it's just me but it seems like he said alot on just about every verse on this CD. I don't know how to explain it but it always seems to me like he has more lyrics in one verse than the average rapper now has in one song. It's like on most CD's you can tell people are trying to pace themselves and try to spread there best lyrics around or even worse some people put it all into 2 or 3 songs and the rest of the CD is averae at best. Seems like on Ilmatic, Nas filled all 10 songs with nothing but the best he had, went 100% on all of them.
I don't know probably just me though.
My favorite 2 songs from it.
