Marc Colombo just met with Jerrah and was informed he will likely be cut.

Apparently there's a slight chance he can be retained at a discount.

Personally wish him nothing but the best, he's been the meanest guy on the line and a great feel good story after the Bears basically told him he was nothing in 2005. But he's just physically shot now.

Interesting enough, Leonard Davis was at team headquarters but was told he didn't need to speak to Jerry or Garrett so he looks to be safe.

edit: check that, he did meet with Jerry. Stay tuned.

Jerry did say that 4 or 5 guys are being let go today and he and Garrett will be talking personally with each one.

The Giants have reportedly informed C/G Rich Seubert of his impending release.
He was due to earn $2.25 million this season. The 32-year-old was expected to start the season on the PUP list after major knee surgery in January. It's not clear if the Giants are open to re-signing Seubert at a lower salary.

Bengals owner Mike Brown finally acknowledged Tuesday that Carson Palmer has retired from football.
Palmer would be willing to play if the Bengals traded him, but Brown reiterated that won't happen. "Carson signed a contract, he made a commitment," said Brown. "He gave us his word. ... We expected him to perform here. If he is going to walk away from his commitment we aren’t going to reward him for doing it." It's nice to see Brown finally concede the obvious, but it doesn't mean he's any less stubborn. It's a shame for a player with 2-3 halfway decent seasons left.

They should at least see what they can get for him. I understand the whole, "YOU SIGNED THE CONTRACT, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH!!," but in the end an organization has to be about what is best for the oranization and Palmer would have value to some teams.....at least be open to to seeing what is value is. It appears Palmer screwed up on this.

But those guys are FAs. The assumption there is Jerry told both of them they will make every effort to bring them back.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP)—It looks like linebacker Nick Barnett(notes) is done in Green Bay.

Barnett was among the first Packers players to return to Lambeau Field on Tuesday morning. He left without talking with reporters, but tweeted that he had met with team officials and then thanked everyone “for the great 8 years.”

Barnett says he was happy to be part of the team’s run to the Super Bowl championship last season and Green Bay will always be special to him.

Wide receiver Brett Swain(notes) and tight end Tom Crabtree(notes) also were among the early arrivals. The Packers open training camp Friday and have their first practice Saturday.

It can’t get much worse for Tully Banta-Cain(notes).

First, the New England Patriots linebacker re-aggravated an abdominal strain from last season working out during the NFL lockout. It required surgery and he reportedly was going to be on the shelf four to five weeks.

Now, he’ll spend that time on the shelf contemplating where his next landing spot will be. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Patriots have informed Banta-Cain, who led the defense in sacks over the last two seasons, that he will be released Thursday when the waiver period begins.

That’s a tough break for Banta-Cain and one can only assume his offseason injury contributed to the decision. That’s exactly why some players were cautious during the lockout.

Whether or not the Broncos are clearing a roster spot for free agent running back DeAngelo Williams(notes), the bottom line on this story remains the same: Correll Buckhalter(notes) is finished in Denver.

After 7 NFL seasons, Correll Buckhalter finds himself without a team.
While NFL teams can’t officially cut players until Thursday, FOX 31 in Denver reported Monday night that the Broncos have informed Buckhalter they plan to release him. The seven-year veteran rushed for 789 yards and three touchdowns in two seasons with the team.

Soon to be third-year running back Knowshon Moreno(notes) is currently listed as the starter on the Denver depth chart, but the Broncos have made it known they’ll be looking for another running back to add to the roster during free agency. Many experts believe a John Fox-DeAngelo Williams reunion could be in the works.

With the possible exception of Ahmad Bradshaw(notes), Williams is considered by some to be the top free agent running back available this summer.

The Cowboys have informed RB Marion Barber of his impending release.
Barber never stood a prayer of collecting on his $4.25 million salary, and the Cowboys had to make a quick decision on his $500,000 roster bonus. MBIII entered last season as the starter, but showed no evidence of a burst even before a mid-season calf injury. After averaging 4.5 yards per carry as one of the most physical backs in the league from 2005-07, Barber's production has tailed off to 3.88 over the past three years. Now 28 and plagued by multiple leg injuries in recent seasons, Barber will have to accept a backup job on the open market.

Garrett and Jones are meeting with all free agents and guys on the block.

Barber along with a few other Cowboys are going to get cut, and it seems Jones and Garrett are telling them.
