Interesting to note the mixed feelings here.

Some caps fan seem to be happy as hell while others are pissed.

I find it funny that a coach who recently just set the record for quickest amount of time to 200 wins gets the can while the majority of the lazy players remain.

Will be interesting to see what happens with Hunter.

The players were lazy because they didn't want to play for him. Around these parts most fans are happy, we wanted him gone last year cause he has no control of the locker room.

When the star player is seen on tv calling you a fat fuck, then things are not good.


Dale Hunter was a feisty one when he played for us, hopefully he coaches like that. He has quite the team to coach if he can light a fire under their ass.


Firing Boudreau was one of many things that needs to happen to this club to be successful.

The players shouldn't dictate who coaches them. Plain and simple.

Just to give you guys some insights on Dale Hunter as a coach, well here it is.

- The Hunters in London were very well respected, and are probably the most respected in the OHL.

- They play a defence style of hockey and coach from that perspective. Always have been. So expect some defence adjustments from a guy who knows how to play defensive hockey.

- It was always said the Hunters would never make the jump to the NHL because they HATE the media. The NHL has rules on media, and after every game, players are given 10-15 minutes and then the media can enter the locker room. Hunters hate this and have kicked media out because they don't want them. He probably will get over that, just making it a note.

- London Knights are first in the OHL right now with a team that really isn't screaming many big names. They just play a really good solid style of hockey.

- Going back to what I said before about the respect thing, you should find if players dog it, Dale will be on their ass about it all the time. You don't dog it on a Dale Hunter team.

I'm not a hockey fan at all and i think this is the first time i ever posted in here.... anyway... most of the people i know are die hard caps fans and wanted him gone. But now that it actually happened they act like the organization is fucking up. DC sports fans are seriously fucking retarded.

Honestly, the caps should have just went back to their run and gun style, and just score score score. They were untouchable during the regular season when they did that. And now with a solid goalie, they could afford to give up some chances.

Very true, and with their signings this off-season besides Vokoun, it isn't as though we don't have grit to match up against other teams down the depth chart. Hamrlik would have also been good come playoff time.

Hunter is about the only choice they had in this situation, but I am amazed at so many people calling out the organization, yet they haven't supported Boudreau at all before this. You can't have things both ways.

As far as what they should do with Ovechkin and the captaincy.....I've thought about that, and I think Hunter is going to make someone earn it. I see him stripping Ovechkin of the C and giving him an A, and just going with four As to see who stands out for him. I think this is going to be a "respect is earned" system, and that fits. Will the FO and ownership let him do it? We'll see.

He will catch on somewhere else and do a good job, I'm sure of it. I'm still surprised it happened just now though.

Yeah well, Ovechkin (Free Agent 2021), Backstrom (FA 2020) is also unheard of.
