Browns won't go winless.

Their offense is capable of putting up some points and that defense, while putrid, has to come alive for at least 1 game.

Considering that we always play down to the Rams, that is a possibility. Though I think the Browns offense can come alive to win two or three games this season. They aren't that bad to go winless.

ok since the bengals foiled my plans for an 0-16 finish, i am still holding out for a 1-15 performance.

last week against the bengals the team actually played well in all 3 phases and looked especially good in the 1st and 4th quarters.

Offense -
Weeden can play. i have no doubt about him being able to make all the throws and he seems to find alot of open guys down field. the receivers need to step it up and stop acting like rookies. yes they are rookies, but fuck man at least try to look like you belong in the NFL. Apparently TRich got hurt and will have an MRI on his ribs today. Hardesty has been a ghost, but came in and played very well and scored a TD. I did notice they didnt throw him any passes. But he hit the holes hard and played solid. The offensive line was also very solid against a very good dline for cinccy. I think 1 sack and overall weeden had all day to throw.
Josh Cooper was added off the practice squad. He was Weedens college teammate and said he was better to throw to than blackmon. The chemistry was there right from the start and this little guy has the speed to fill a welker type of role. why has he been on the practice team all year? Bottom line, the Browns can score points.

Defense -
Hadens return seemed to spark the horrible secondary into playing well. Ward is obviously hurting out there and can hardly tackle. But i guess him at 70% is better than the next guy. The run dee was solid again BJGE. Dalton had big numbers along with green, but nothing that was out of control. the biggest thing was the other guys were shut down. The defense is pretty solid this year. The last 4 games were tough without haden and having brown injured during one of those games.

Special Teams -
Cribbs had another fumble. thats 3 in 3 weeks. Lucky he didnt lose this one. He still gives consistent returns every time to shift the field in favor of the browns. Without his returns the browns would have long fields so we are lucky to have him back there. Dawson hit FG. this guy is money. its nice to see him get a few shots under 50 yards. But even at 50-55, the guy is clutch.

Coaching -
I was pretty pleased with the coaching this week. The guys came out and looked good in the first. Had some lulls in the 2nd and 3rd, but put up 21 in the 4th which is outstanding. At one point in the 3rd when having a lull, McCoy started warming up. The announcers claim Weeden may have hurt his ankle, but he sure didnt play like it. right after McCoy got up, Weeden and the offense went on a 27-3 run. Maybe they needed a spark and it came from Weeden seeing McCoy warming up.

I loved seeing Josh Gordon get free on another 70 yard TD. Last week he got a 60 yard td off an exploited match up vs the giants. This week the browns design got him behind the safeties. I like to think this is a credit to coaching. you find a weakness and beat it for a big play...so kudos to shurmur for that.

This week its off to Indy. They got smacked by the jets. Lets hope the browns motivate them to show up and play so we can keep our hopes up for a 1-15 finish
 
why win when you know you cant win? the browns are not good. Even to finish at 6-10 they need to go 5-5 the rest of the year. This team is not good enough and doesnt have the coaching to go 5-5 to finish out the year. So why win at all? all you are doing it getting a lower draft pick. I would rather go 1-15 and get the #1 pick then win 4 or 5 games....or even worse, win enough games to make jim Haslem think about keeping holmgren and shurmur employed.

they have 2 teams on their level the rest of the year, the colts and the chiefs. the other teams are far superior to them and should beat them no problem. So worst case scenerio is a 3-13 finish which should land the #1 pick and get holmgren and shurmur fired. Maybe then Haslem can restore a winning attitude and bring on someone like cowher or gruden...both of which would never come here under the learner regime.
