2011 Poster Of The Year
Bryan Danielson "Rise to Glory", ROH "Glory By Honor XI", NJPW King of Pro Wrestling
Watch these while you can, they will surely be taken down soon.
ROH Presents: Bryan Danielson Rise To Glory
This is the first Danielson comp from a few years ago. Six matches, all very good and very historical.
sidenote - "Jimmy Bowers", aka Gabe Sapolsky, does commentary for most of these matches
-Danielson vs Spanky (Brian Kendrick), 4/24/05 Best of American Super Juniors
This was the infamous tournament that ended up ending the ROH-New Japan relationship. New Japan wanted booking control and sent "Dragon Soldier B" (Kendo Kashin) to win the tournament. Dragon Soldier B sucked and the crowd turned on him. Plus, they had to change venues at literally the last minute due to RexPlex closing, and on top of that there was torrential thunder storms that led to the show starting late.
-Danielson vs James Gibson (Jamie Noble), 9/17/05 Glory By Honor IV
ROH World Title match. You can probably figure out the outcome. I don't know if the post match promo is included. I would guess yes.
-Danielson vs Nigel McGuinness, 8/12/06 Unified
This is the classic. ROH World & Pure Titles unified. Many gave this five stars. This was the height of Danielson's title reign and also pre injury Nigel. Just a special match that you should go out of your way to watch, and a great example of what made ROH so great during this time period. WATCH THIS BEFORE IT GETS TAKEN DOWN, JUST DO IT.
-Danielson vs KENTA, 9/16/06 Glory By Honor V Night 2
This was the show from NYC that Bruno Sammartino attended. Another classic match from the Danielson title run.
-Danielson vs Takeshi Morishima, 8/25/07 Manhattan Mayhem II
This is Danielson as title challenger, as he had lost the title to Homicide, who went on to lose to Morishima. This is the match where Danielson suffers the detached retina. Not the best Danielson/Morishima match (I prefer the return match where Danielson seeks revenge for the eye injury), but still awesome. These were the best matches of Morishima's career in my opinion.
-Danielson vs Tyler Black (Seth Rollins), 1/25/08 Breakout
Black was still part of Age of the Fall at this point, and it was the early days of his slow push that Adam Pearce eventually ruined by taking too long to pull the trigger on. I've never seen this match, so i can't comment much more on it.
