A lot of VSNers know that I have a 5-year old daughter and a 19-year old step-daughter (insert low-brow humor here). What I haven't talked about is my step-son Jake, who is 17. Jake has been on the Varsity squad since midway through his Freshman year. Last October, in a game against Gaither he suffered a complete tear of his ACL. He worked his ass off for nearly a year, and last night was his first game action since the his tear. He was receiving letters from a number of different universities (Georgia Tech, Nebraska, Cincinnati and a few others) prior to his injury about how they were monitoring his play, etc. and his personal goal is to earn a Division 1 scholly. In all honesty, I think he can earn a mid-level scholly...I know that USF will most likely offer, but I have been trying to manage his expectations about HUGE schools making offers. Either way, I was really proud of him last night and I wanted to share the highlight video of the game. It is from a local station Bright House Sports Network and whoever is doing the voice-work is fucking brutal - but his kickoff return for a touchdown is in there so I thought I would share with VSN!

He is only a Junior, so he has this year and next to sort through that. I just am sure of the USF offer due to our relationship with the coaching staff.

It is named after George Steinbrenner. Not so odd in that he lived here in Tampa for a loooong time, he pumped a lot of money into this area to charities, schools, childrens hospitals, etc. He was very good to this area.
