With Carson Palmer in Arizona, new Cardinals coach Bruce Arians says there’s no team in the NFL that has a better group of quarterbacks.
Arians said at Palmer’s introductory press conference that Palmer is the No. 1 quarterback, and that the combination of Palmer as the starter and backups Drew Stanton, Ryan Lindley and Brian Hoyer gives the Cardinals the best quarterback depth the NFL has seen.
“I think our quarterback room is as strong as any in the National Football League,” Arians said.
Arians also gushed about the talent around Palmer, saying that the Cardinals’ offensive line is better than most people think, and that their talent at the skill positions is strong and will get stronger through the draft or free agency.
“We’re only a guy or two away now,” Arians said. “We’re very, very close now.”
Palmer agreed with that assessment, saying what appeals to him most about the Cardinals is that Arizona is a place where he can win.
“They want to win now,” Palmer said. “And at the point I’m in, in my career, I want to win now, too.”
Not many people will agree with that optimism. But Arians and Palmer both sound confident.
