Cavs trade West to Wolves in deal for Sessions

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Timberwolves have agreed to trade point guard Ramon Sessions and forward Ryan Hollins to the Cleveland Cavaliers for point guards Delonte West and Sebastian Telfair.

The Timberwolves say they will also send Cleveland a future second-round pick in the deal completed Monday night.

It's the first significant personnel move the Cavaliers have made since star LeBron James left to sign with the Miami Heat earlier this month.

Sessions and Hollins both signed with the Timberwolves before last season as part of a new rebuilding project. But the Timberwolves signed Luke Ridnour and Darko Milicic, making both of them expendable.

I'm so fucking pissed. The only reason I had to be a Cavs fan anymore after Lebron left was the idea of building our new team around Telfair. Now that that's over with, I'm no longer a Cavs fans. Go Kings/Warriors!

He was part of the 3-way deal that landed Jamison. Back to the Wolves for the guy who is now on his 6th change of uniform. So much for all the hype.

I like this deal for the Cavs as Telfair is useless and I really like Sessions. Sessions>Ridnour

They are going to waive West,

West will likely be waived in the coming days as the remaining one year on his contract at $4.7 million becomes fully guaranteed on August 3rd.

If waived prior to that date, the Timberwolves would be required to pay the guaranteed portion of the deal, $500,000, to buyout the newly acquired West and, in turn, receive roughly $4.2 million in cap relief.
